Since Dan will be busy painting, I'll be on camera duty. I'll take tons of shots, don't worry...I just need to figure out how to share them all. I haven't looked into Flickr yet, but I will soon. Anyone know of other services that I shoud look into that will allow us to post 20-50 pictures?

As of this morning there were 3 tickets left. You should call the Society to find out.

The nearest and easiest airport is LaGuardia.
    JFK is the next.
Newark is a nicer but further away.
Islip is way out...but sometimes real cheap because of that.

If you are trying to come in and out in one day, you'd be best with LaGuardia.

This sounds like an awsome event! Such awsome artists in the same room.
the MB guys did a couple similar events like this here in SF, at the Shooting Gallery, titled, appropriately: "Wet" and "Instant Gratification"... 20 artists, 2 rooms, 12 hours of painting, from start to finish... awsome!

there was a bunch of local talent there really kicking ass, and shawn barber and Kevin Llewellyn made appearances as well. Id love to get the likes of Brom and Vallejo in the room with em though!

wow, wish i could go to this, but im stuck here organizing the montreal workshop..... not that im complaining!!!!

have fun you guys, take lots of pics and post em!

I'm really glad Dan and Irene kept us posted on how many tickets were available, I was able to snag one yesterday morning! Otherwise, I would have definitely waited until it was too late.

Shit this is turning out to be one hell of aCA turnout! fucking A! Im waiting for my friend to speak to his roomates about the afterparty but, it looks like its gonna be cool. I spoke o one of them and was totally down. I was wondering who has easels that they may be able to bring with them? I would like to have at least three stations set up.

Well, its a whatever you want to do a thon. But, I would really like for all the artist that will be going to add something to the collaborations. I think it may be hard for some people to draw on a large illustration board. Maybe two or three people can be drawing on one board at once. I dunno. give me some ideas.

well, i won't be able to make it cause i need the money for the CA workshop. but what are the chances of one of these being held in LA or the surrounding area? i know there's a branch of the society out here. just curious =)

The LA Society is actually a different organization. Honestly, I'm sticking to NY, just 'cause it's where I am and the Society is like a second home. (I'm sure the staff is quite sick of me. ) If you want something similar in LA, call around. I bet you'd have a pretty killer group together in no time.

The next World Science Fiction Convention will be in LA. These are much heavier on the writers than artists but there will still be some great artists to see. James Gurney is the artist guest of honor and I believe Donato will be there. Not sure who else. http://www.laconiv.org/

ah...possibly? I had been intending to take the train down from New Haven to avoid worrying about parking. It would be cool to meet up and get a little sketch jam going Amtrak-style, though. I know mikel was going to try to get a ticket buy I have no idea if he was successful.

oh yeah, I got my big-ass red ticket in the mail today #173 I assume does not indicate how many tickets were sold, though!

Its Official.. Aol After Party Info. Included

    It's official!

    ART OUT LOUD AFTER PARTY

Location- 816 Broadway. Between 12 and 11 st'S. Second floor bell.

Info- Party starts at 5pm and will or could continue to 10pm maybe even a bit later depending on how things go.

I have a 30 person limit for this so I need to know who will be coming for this ahead of time. I will make out little flyers to hand out at A.O.L. for any non-CA people to come and join the fun.

This is a "Bring your own BOOZE party" or I can make it a "B.Y.O.B & Bring Your Own Food Party" or I can collect 5 bucks from everyone at the party and order dominos. Some feedback on that would be great help.

What the party will consist of you ask? When I thought about throwing this I wanted to do something where everyone could relax, mingle, listen to some tunes and just draw. So, thats exactly what I suggest we do.

So.... I got my good friend Dj JolliRocka to spin for us at the party to get the blood flowing and our artistic minds moving....

For all you painters out there.. If you want to paint... then paint. Bring your own easels and materials to paint with. I would love for maybe two people to bring easels if they can. I would like those who are going to the party to participate in two large collaborative drawings that will be donated to the apartment the party is being held. I figure thats the least we can do for letting me host the party there.

Any or all comments and questions should be posted here. For those two people that can bring their easels, just comment here as well, for all those who are attending the party please post here.

I'll see you peeps in a month!

some friends did this at a party once.
    it was fun!
i recommend you get a large sheet of nice paper,
and tack it up to the wall.
that way, it takes no space and people can doodle on it all they want.
put a jar of markers, pens, and pencils nearby...and you're set.
make sure the paper is nice enough (or doubled up) that the markers dont bleed through onto the wall!

DS- that sounds like a good idea. I'll get some large one ply illo boards and tack them up. Im not too worried about taking up space. It's a pretty big loft but, we can always use more space. I hope you can come around after your "obligations" are taken care of. I'm sure one or two of the demo peeps wouldnt mind coming out for this. We usually throw some good parties there!

I was at a party where they did this with a huge piece of cheapish paper (like off a giant roll, it took up the whole wall). Never before or since have I seen so many penis drawings

oh, and I'm totally down with the party
