First of thanks to everyone who put in the hard work to get this thing going.

Thanks to the artists for donating their time.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see this, and all the CA friends who i talked to and didn't.

I had a great time!!! (but then again, i didn't expect anything less)

Happy Birthday to Cody. Glad we could all spend it together.

Rob, I'm sorry the party didn't work out as planned. I'm a selfish prick and really wanted to go have dinner with Irene and the rest of the crew. And as always, when you get the alcohol (and the stories of Foster's dogs) flowing, you don't end up finishing until way late. I'll try to bring your book for you tomorrow.

Now shrink them images so they actually load!!!

This was such an awesome show! Everyone was so helpful with answering questions while they tried to painted (which had to be distracting). Boris is really freaking fast! Julie seemed to prefer a more meticulas slower pace, focusing on her subject's face. Dan did and amazing job shooting out tidbits o' wisdom all the while. Greg was so down to earth, at one point getting into a philosophical discussion about the merits of having 2 basketballs in a fishtank as art. (As a note, the piece he was doing was for a book cover art which he had due today I believe). All the artists were phenomenal. I can't believe how much I learned. Thank you all. It was also cool to meet some of the guys from around here as well!!! Again, thanks Dan for relative last minute ticket opportunity.

Whatever you do, don't look at my Sketchbook and Painting Thread!

Demo was great... I basically watched Adam Rex the whole time I was there.. He is really amazing to watch... Such a neat and acurate artist and a very cool guy as well... It was nice meeting the Canadian Ca'ers, and BwKeough, Jason Chan, Robin Cho, hylandr, along with some returning Ca'ers, Strych9ine, flex Mathews, Dave Palumbo. A special thanks to BdFoster and MWillustration for stopping by "after party". Sorry it wasnt more eventfull but, it was cool talking shop with you guys.

Mainloop- man i must be dyslexic.. cuz i thought you asked how many people are on lsd

What a weekend man, what a weekend. Irene, Dan, Greg, this thing just keeps getting better and better. You guys did a fantastic job organizing this event, just wanted to thank you guys for giving it life. And thanks to the artists for coming out, there are better ways to spend a Saturday than having 40 dudes breathing down your neck while paitning, but I can't tell you how much I took away from watching you guys (and gal) paint.

Oh, and a big thank you to Jon Foster for sharing his Skippy peanut butter secrets... if only my dog had a longer tongue.

Yeah, Boris knocked everyone out. He worked so quickly and confidently...and the painting is awesome. Not only was the audience amazed, the other demo artists were amazed as well. There's a reason he's a legend in the field.

I told all of them not to worry about finishing a painting. I also told them not to worry about doing a good painting. Everyone knows what they can do. Demos aren't about proving your stuff, they are about sharing a little, giving a little insight into what you do. Well, no one listened to me. They all did great paintings anyway. (I swear, If I didn't know that the Boris and Julie are in much better shape than me, I would have grabbed Julie's and run out the door.)

    -------

I want to thank everyone for helping out so much. Amish, you are a gem! Poise, Loomer, Cody, Jason, Robin, Flex and everyone else that picked-up an easel or a chair or Wyeth painting, thanks so much. It made set-up and clean-up go super fast and smooth. These events really couldn't happen without so much help.

And thanks to CA. Without this community we could never get the word out to so many people.

    -------

I think I know the answer to this but....to anyone that went to both Art Out Louds, which format did you like best?

I'll probably be the only one who thinks that Art Out Loud 1 format was better than the second (although the way we layed this one out allowed for slightly smoother flow of traffic). but that's just me. i like the surprise of problem solving on the fly.

With all the prepwork the artists did, all that was left was to do was to work "that voodoo that they do"

I'm not complaining - anyone who wants to learn how to paint has to sit there and watch Greg plan out the strokes in his head, like a chess master. alwas a few steps ahead of himself. and every time i get a chance to see him in action i always learn something new.

Was also great to see Jon and Dan fumble and then save the day. really shows that they all go through the same issues te rest of us go through. well, maybe not Boris

I guess this format was way too different for me than the last one.

I think this one was 20x's more successful and educational. I probably annoyed the hell out of most of the artists...I couldn't shut my fat mouth! But too sit beside them and really get into their heads a bit was something you couldn't even come close to in the first one. The first one was fun , but so many people work differently...that the 'alla prima' approach was only really beneficial to Justin Sweet and Greg Manchess. But it was great to see the artists come in to a point where they did their prep work and was it was like." OK - This is how I take it from here..."
Just my opinion. It was so much fun and I learned a tremendous amount in such a short time. Thank you Irene and Dan for setting this up. Thanks to all the artists for participating too. And I must apologize to Greg, Jon, and Dan if I asked too many questions while painting..but I was really curious!

Also great to see everyone - especially those who flew out. Cody, Pat, Robin (i gotta hang with your grandma and watch OldBoy ) , Jason (alex ross is watching!), and all you other CA.orgers.

Hey Arkady - I'm not surprised you responded to the first one a little more. Your work is so immediate. No wonder you are drawn to Cornwell and the like.

Scott - Don't worry about asking questions..That's what they were there for! I'm sure they appreciated someone keeping the question flowing. My only regret from the first AOL, was that no one asked any questions. That's part of the reason we changed the layout a bit. We thought that smaller groups would feel a lot more intimate and make people more comfortable about speaking up.

What a great time this was. Thank you Irene and Dan for the work putting it together. It was a truly memorable event. And thank you John, Adam, Dan, Julie, Boris and Greg for taking the time to paint for everyone and answer questions.

It was also great to put a face to a bunch of the CAers out there. There were a lot! I wish I could have met each one of you with the CA Friendly badges (another thank you to Dan, those badges rule!). I hope to make it to another in the future. It was a great trip! I will post my images later on when I get the chance. Thanks again!

man was it worth the trip to make this!
any of you that wanted to go but decided against it, should really think about going next time around.
on top of the great demos and meeting a ton of people from ca, my buddy and i both won books from the raffle, which was well worth the ticket price!

irene, thanks again for putting this on, and thanks to all the artist who were all so amazing and helpful! it was great to sit or stand next to you all and ask questions. i definitely got alot of insight and inspiration from the whole experience.

great to meet you amishcommy, strych9ine, vigostar, bdfoster, davePalumbo, irene gallo, dsillustration, darth massacre and everyone else i met there but maybe forgot, (sorry)
    feel free to email me!

we really should have gotten a ca group shot, but oh well.

by the way vigostar, how'd the after party go after we left?
    did more people show later?

this one definetly had more educational value than the first one and had more relevance to the Illustration field itself. I learned to slow down and think things things through. hopefully i can apply it in practice.

here are my Pics. Gonna post them all casue its easier for me that way:
