Hey hows it going fran, I like the new updates. The little monsters are fun though they are abit stiff. Like the detail on the spikey dudes club.
The wintery girl is looking good too, you have a good eye for pattern.

darkchild: thanks, i might do some more for this unit of study
FactorZero: thanks! actually when i try to think of something i never can, but when im just randomly doodling, i can hehe, and when i dont actually have my sketchbook with me i think of a tonne , oh well cest la vie hehe
    Wakazou: thanks =], heres some

Somewhere in the realms of this sketchbook is a sketch of audrey tautou who played amelie, which i wanted to paint, so i finally got round to starting it, and heres my attempt, bearing in mind that i havent painted since about january 05, so thats pretty much 2 years, and i was never really that good anyway
the face is now even more wrong now, but i guess i can fix that later on, i was concentrating on the painting part hehe

i tend to not use enough paint, and then drag drying paint over the canvas then, and its just like dry brushing, which i shouldnt really do. just trying to find some skin tones similar to the reference ( back in my sb somewhere)

C+C welcomed, and any advice about acrylics would be appreciated, thanks

I see you started painting that sketch from a while back One thing about acrylics is that either you work really fast for wet on wet ... or do it slowly using layers of glazes. A good basic skin tone mixture is titanium white, burnt umber, a touch of yellow ochre and a tiny dab of red. The darker the skin, the more burnt umber is used. The shadow areas, I usually add a touch of purple and whatever the surrounding color is. Mind you, I'm still pretty new to this sooooo my mixtures are probably totally incorrect

EDIT: I sometimes toss in some burnt sienna too, but don't ask me why
