Naomi- yup heres a quick one, and taarrrr =]
hurricane- thanks for stopping by! heres another update for you then =]

I drew one original sketch of him, photocopied it a few times ( there was a purpose - this one isnt supposed to be the main product) - this copy i inked
but the line at the base of his nose and nostril shouldnt be too hard, but of course i couldnt get rid of it being a photocopy ( i guess thats kinda cheating lol) it still doesnt look completely like him though , but thanks for all the crits i tried my best to amend it
    grrr
    Lefran's sketchbook: 20th April
oh my what a pointy chin on one side i just noticed + a blobbly looking neck- its not quite that dark but it scanned darker so it looks like a big blob- it blends in real life hehe

the initial image, before i did the one above, i photocopied a multiple times on the one to get this weird effect. ( too lazy to draw it over and over! plus its quicker )

and the inital sketch then reflected in itself to share an eye

Hey there Fran, I gotta say. I'm super impressed with your values in the portrait of your friend. Truly awesome improvement! One of the keys with a portrait is the distance between the eyes. Really focus on getting that right in future. But honestly, well done on that. and keep drawing

Hey hey, nice one on that portrait, pretty successful. Don't stress about likeness too much, theres just no point. Photographic style art doesnt have as much value, at least to me, I like to see the take people have and see how they view things.

With the overlay stuff, definately make sure you plan your final stuff if you have to produce any for college =] It helps somewhat.Let yourself experiment for awhile first though, happy accidents help alot with that style =D
Just push what you see and move it into a shape or a contour or a pattern etc. Great work, keep it up =D 4 stars yay!

The portrait came out pretty good, don't worry too much with the likeness, getting a likeness will come in time with practice.

white out is good for getting rid of mistakes on photocopies not that I have any.

Hello franigan, still experimenting which is good! liking the range you are looking at. I like the inky monster.
Be mindful in minimal art work where you put the lines, because they have to be really spot on or look like wrinkles or strange forms.
Keep at it, see you in oxford.
