Thats just gorgeous! My only crit would be that her hair needs to come forward a bit... the background is fighting with it a bit at the moment. Maybe a heavier line around it or something... hmmm. Just pity to lose it.

    Looks cool though!

    sameolesameole thankyou
sketchling thanks kim- thats true it could do with making that line thicker, cheers for the crit, ill get round to altering it in the week at some point
    greenfire hehe cheers
    quicksilver Thanks Naomi

I dont have much to post atm, as i havent scanned anything yet but i have 2 things at the mo, ill update with some more in the week

At the moment in college i chose to do a fashion unit, with illustration, the brief was just 'contrast', so i chose old and new, making new garments from old ones. I made a fitted shirt dress with a peter pan collar from an XL mens shirt, and i made a fitted and lined waistcoat from a men's XL suit jacket. (its me in the pic btw)

And heres a quick sketch to go with it- i am in no way that tall or skinny lol

no pose? what kind of model are you?!

Jk, theres some cool stuff like the TD, but not many studies. Try to integrate studies as something that's just a part of what you do. Try to get it to the point where you don't have to decide to do studies, and you just do them. The better your learning habits you'll improve faster. And I'm no fashion critic so I'll leave that up to someone else, I dig the hair though .

Jens- Thanks, also cheers for the link, some of her illustrations are really nice
    Fooxoo- Thank you Edite!
Skeiff- Thanks sewings not that hard actually, particularly on a machine, just thread it up, and go (providing you have a steady hand for straight lines hehe)
Mr Grumble- Thankyou, mm yes im a fan of texture, i think i need to start compiling some!

Ive had a week off college, and i've been a lazy bum and done nothing much in particular, which isnt a good idea seeing as i have an essay that ive not started yet, and a unit that i need to finish. Heres a small update though...
I'll try not to be so lazy

This one's great, and that study of Naked Brian (haha) really shows how much you've improved this year.

Was so much fun hanging out with you and the others this weekend. Will probably see you about when I'm back in Noooport for Easter Good luck with uni!!

TheGnoll- Thanks- no i've not tried vector art yet as i don't have illustrator. We have it in college, but i only have lessons scheduled once a week which are quite short, and i usually have other stuff to do in the computer lessons. Plus this computer is too slow to hold PS and illustrator! lol. When i get my own computer i'll probably get it and have a play around

    Jorge Gecov- Thanks

DannySketch- Cheers Danni, i've not stopped by your SB for a while so i'll be dropping by soon

Quicksilver- Ta! Yeah was fun seeing you again! And sure thing, let me know when your back and can do something for a day

A (not so)Speed painting- sort of a self portrait but without reference. I spent longer on this than i should have because i dont ever paint, or draw using a tablet, mostly just colouring in the lines etc,so i thought id give it a go.
Hopefully i'll get into the swing of doing more!

I have to come back here again and scope through your whole SB. But already now I see many goodies and interesting treats. Keep at it, and don't forget to do studies. One really learns allot from them!

The values on your SP all look very good and i can tell the form, and a little likeness

The main problem i see with it is the color, especially the temperatures of shadows and such... Makes it look a little muddy.

The life drawing is the best yet ive seen from you though

ooooh what a wonderful sketchbook you have! your style is very nice and those designs are exquisite.
smartkyle's right about the shading. it's always a good idea to keep shadows saturated and let them contain a lot of different hues. keep it up

    hive_minD- thanks
smartkyle- cheers! and yeah i agree about the colour
    algenpfleger- thanks

Small update of a selection of gestures from life drawing today- started out with about 4 minute sketches and went down to 1 second (no joke), then back up. The model was cutting loads of time off of that too so these are all really haphazard with broken looking limbs and messy! Can you guess which one was the 1 second one? .
They're scanned sort of in order of which they were drawn so you can estimate time that way

i particularly like the fourth one down (the green one) and the one with the model sat down with his arms spread.

I like your self portrait, it all looks pretty much dead on except the nose which I think is a little too round. The colours of your hair and around your eyes are beautiful

With the figures, I think my favourite was actually the red one just above the one second drawing (or 4 minute... ). I like how confident it is, it has lines like the one second one, but slightly more detailed. slightly.. The big bold lines just give them more weight and power than the scratchier lines on the other drawings I think.

If you could somehow get a compromise between the big bold lines and the small scratchy lines then it would look perfect

Oh yeah, the fashion stuff is cool too, not many people around here into that, keep doing it!
