Actually i think you handled the figure quite nicely. Only problem with the drawing that really bugs me is the face, but the body is pretty good. Love your sketches, although when you're pushing something back with shading you shouldn't make it darker than any of the values in front, dark = closer. I'd love to see that hooded figure in a digi w/scenery. Keep it up, this sb is fun to watch

I love that crouching dude from last post, both design and line quality. Your sp looks cool, I agree with fish about white areas, just save it for smaller spots and use more the paper color. That way it'll pop some more.
    Keep it up!
ps: I'd like to see the promised clay model based on that ortho

I'll remember to push highlights then. Thanks for the crit. I'll see if I have time to post the clay model, it's still got a lot of work left before it's even worth showing. Pretty much just armature and blobs. Hellbeast COW WIP

Much better with your pencil. Keep loosening those forms (the flesh is more realistic in your avatar, good on that). Draw on.

well, was going to get some sleep, but guess I'll throw up the better stuff from my sketchbook. I'll throw up some oil paintings in a bit too (when I have time to shoot them).

Love the new stuff Love the values and the cross-hatching on the first armor guy, great job. Also really love the page with the girl in the skirt, nice gestures there. Looking forward to the paints.

Totally diggin those last pencils. The way you handled the values with the hatching in the first one is just sweet.
Man, I'm sorry to hear about your hand. Do you know how long is it going to take for it heal? Best of luck with that.
PS: I started to work with oils, so be prepared to be annoyed by my questions

Still toughing out the left handed drawing. Will post when I have stuff worth showing. Shot the oils, tell me what you guys think, cuz I still have time to work on them before the end of semester. Got some money together and 'm going to San Fran! Shoot me questions Fedezz, but you look like you're getting the hang of it. I only know a little anyway. Almost finished with that landscape that no one could tell what it was. Just need to tighten up certain areas. All from life, except for the landscape.

Hey man, that stinks about your hand. Oils are looking good, especially that enviro. I really like the still life as well. Left handed drawing can be pretty fun, feel free to post any junk that results from it, i'd be interested in seeing it.

Man, that landscape turned out great, composition is really powerful.
I really like the first one, color subtleties are fantastic, and those hands and drapery are yummy. The face might look a little too overworked compared to the rest of the image, and some of the speculars on her dress aren't working. Are using some kind of medium, or do you paint straight from the tube?
Enjoy that workshop, it looks like it's going to be badass!

I mix in medium to extend the paint, but I just bought some gel to get more texture out of it, still messing around. Thick paint goes over thin paint, and how you accomplish that is up to you. I'd say the quickest way is definitely to just jump right in and paint as much as you can, reading tips here and there and trying them to see if they work for you.

Yeah for left handed drawings! You may have no control but that just helps you to focus more on what you are drawing than your ability with your hands/arms. Think of it as blind contour drawing I like that armor dude, maybe you can work further on him when you regain the use of your good hand.

So San Fran kicked ass. One of the best things I have been to. Screwed up my flight for the way back to Colorado, and then when I rescheduled it, a freak blizzard hit Denver, and I was stuck in Las Vegas from wednsday til saturday. Finally I'm home, relaxing with the family for christmas, posting some more left handed sketches. One's a bumlord tdome, and ones a colab. I think how it worked out was every five minutes pass a sketchbook to your right and take a shot. I think there are pics of me and Interceptor passed out from too much drawing and drinking in the San Fran pic thread. Some paintings on the way for next post.

The face was the colab, didn't actually work on it at all myself, it's just in my book. Anyway, here's a sketch of hero on brown paper, a painting using the shitest paints imagineable, and a green haired model with some good paints. Took the mouth to the side too much though.

    Hi

I like your portraits, very lively brushstrokes.

I think some of the colours in some of them are a bit muddy though, they don't really go together, like the muddy yellow/green with the pinkish grey of the face, IMHO.

Offhand sketches look rad! Damn, I can't even grab the pencil with my left hand
Loving the green hair portrait. You already know what's wrong with it, so I hope you finish it once you get your good arm back.
    Cheers!

I forgot to photo and post this one. This is the girl who's letting me show at the restaurant she manages next month, hope it works out. Getting stuck in Vegas was expensive.
