UPFRONT PAY for work on 16 page Yaoi comic in Seinen/Shonen Style

    Hello All,

I'm offering upfront pay work-for-hire for pencils/inks (and ideally colored pages) for a 16 page fantasy/action Yaoi comic to be self-published in a 2007 anthology. I'm looking for a realistic manga style (although still depicting cute/handsome guys) with clean lines, expressive characters and uncluttered backgrounds. Strong life drawing skills a plus. Character design should show sweet-faced, boy-next-door, regular guys -- no porn stars or bishonen, please. Send page rates, experience and links to sequential art (a must) to artistsearch@gmail.com. If we work well together, there would be longer projects, also for upfront pay.

Please do not respond unless you have actual comic pages to show me (in additional to single panels, which are, of course, helpful, too). I do try to get back to those who respond, and when I've posted on other sites (including Digital Webbing), over 60% of my emails are writing back asking if the artist has any sequential samples to show me because they failed to include any (or never had any to begin with.) I am looking for someone with experience in drawing sequential art, no exceptions.

To explain a little more what I'm looking for in character design, ideally I'm looking for depictions of guys with somewhat rounded, sensual, but still masculine faces, similar to what you'd find in Seinen/Shonen Romance (think Ryoichi Ikegami in Offered) or Seinen/Shonen Action (think Jiro Taniguchi, Katsuhiro Otomo), instead of, say, traditional CLAMP renderings. These are handsome, but regular guys, so if your preferred characters have more than 3% body fat, then this project may be for you.

This short comic is about an inexperienced sorcerer's apprentice who must rescue his boyfriend from a charming, but lethal demon after a summoning goes very wrong. There's magic, action and, of course, some romance.

Thank you for checking out my listing!

    Alex

    hi

I'm a graduate looking for work to get me started with my career. I've always been interested in doing something along the lines of yaoi. I have a degree in sequential art but no website up yet. I would be more than happy to send you samples of some of my pages. If you are still interested, please contact me at nieostorm@yahoo.com. Thank you.

    Sincerely

    Dogon

My friend Amber's done a few yaoi story pitches, maybe she could work on your anthology too. But she could also help out in an artist capacity too here's her website:

Please be sure to send email to artistsearch@gmail.com!

Thank you to the artists who are responding directly to this thread. I wll be checking in on it from time to time, but please also send email directly to artistsearch@gmail.com with links to your sequential art. (I check that email a couple of times a day.) I have this listing up in a few places now and I'd hate for an artist who'd be great for this project to get lost in the shuffle.

Thanks (and thank you for your interest!)

    Alex

Thank you to everyone who responded!

I have found my penciler for the 16 page comic and work is coming along nicely. So that position is filled. But I will continue to be on the look out for other artists with a similar style who can help me create the other 150 pages of stories in this graphic novel. If this work seems like it would interest you, please send me an email with links to sequential art at artistsearch@gmail.com.

    Thanks!

    Alex
