"Home" - warmth in a devasted place

Inspired after a morning walk on a rainy day to one of Lisbon's landmarks, the "Torre de Belém".

    I hope you like it.

    great painting,
though there is something i just love about that initial sketch.
it reminds me of an old howard pyle illustration...
back when they only used black white and red for reproduction.

Yeah, the initial sketch is gorgeous - love it. I actually prefer it to the finished piece, but I have a bias in favor of sketchy work.

i like it. but im having a hard time figuring out if either they are building a structure or repairing it after some kind of war. or they decided to habitat the place of some ruins?
very nice feel from this pic.

this is nice! I, like Dan, love the sketch with the overall lack of color except those red accents. but having said that the finished piece is another animal to hug and pet all over again. the composition, clouds and atmospherics are subtle and well rendered. great painting!

Thanks guys...It's an honour to receive praising comments specially from such talents as some of you.

It's funny seeing how people relate differently to the painting and sketch. It seems like each person has a different feeling towards them. Sometimes I find it hard to put myself into someone else's mind and try to feel or think what they do when they see my images. It's hard not to question yourself "why don't they see what I see".. It really is funny...and one can only watch and see it happen.
