I love your life drawings. They're really interesting. Question- Do you draw buildings and stuff from around your town? Do people model for you or do you just draw them?

16 year old Aspiring Animator that is HUNGRY for critique and advice.

And just ofr your eyes . an interview from Justin Beckett in Digital-Tutors forum..i found thaht very inspiring.
After the permission of the interested i share that with you
    you can find that there
    http://www.digitaltutors.com/digital...tist=40&page=1

    "

As the youngest featured artist at Digital-Tutors, is our pleasure to formally introduce Justin Beckett to the masses. The 19 year old artist is readily posting work in galleries and forums all over the internet and can also be seen in the Member Gallery at Digital-Tutors. Completely self-taught, Justin sits with Digital-Tutors and describes what inspires him, how he got his start, and what’s to come in the future.
Digital-Tutors: We know you are active member at DT but tell us where we can see some more of your work?

Justin Beckett: First, thanks for this privilege. Well, for the most part, for the time being, the most popular places you will see my work are on my website www.conception-studio.com, and in online art forums and galleries such as wetcanvas.com, and of course DT. Those are my favorite places to post my work. Besides that, you can also see some traditional art of mine hanging in peoples homes.

DT: As a traditional artist, how did you make the switch to digital?

JB: It is a long story I guess, but I will make it short. I have always grown up drawing traditionally preferably with a pencil. One day I told myself, I would like to try painting, acrylics seemed to be the choice at the time. Then there were oils and gouache and pastel etc (you get the drift). I painted and drew traditionally for a while and I still continue to do so. Then comes the computer, I purchased a brand new computer a few years ago after seeing my friends and I thought this was really cool.

I was in graphic design in school and I always use to see people in the class painting on the computer in Adobe Photoshop, with a so called tablet. So I thought I would give it a try, painting on Photoshop that is. I started with the mouse, paintings took so long, 8hrs, 10 hrs etc, just for the smallest things, and your hand became really sore after this. Sure I wanted to give up at the time, but kept on, and have been hooked ever since.

DT: What area of CG did you find most difficult in000 the beginning?

JB: That is a hard question to answer. I would have to say finding the right brushes that work for me, my favorites. And also getting use to the tablet, as it feels very different then a traditional pencil for me. The switch to traditional painting to digital. I personally feel digital painting is a medium of its own.

DT: What sort of other tools do you use in your daily workflow?

JB: Traditional media I use, acrylics, oils, pastels, pencils, charcoal, pens, I use whatever I can get my hands dirty with. Digital, I use Adobe Photoshop and Painter. Sometimes I will switch back and forth between both programs, using them together for different purposes. For my photography I am a digital camera man.

DT: One could say traditional, but how would you describe your work?

JB: For personal work I would normally choose a painterly / impressionist look. Some of the old master impressionists inspire me to death. Compared to if I were to look at a realist painting. I love seeing the roughness of the paint.

I would say my style is still and is always growing. After every painting I do. Right now I am working up to an Impressionist / Realist look.

DT: What are your sources of inspiration? Do you draw ideas from anything out of the ordinary?

JB: Old and modern day masters, there studies and rough paintings. Movies with strong art direction and music. The way light and shadows work. Color harmony (a big one), and paintings with good use of color theory. Nature is definitely the biggest inspiration for me though. Nature has everything in it if you just look hard enough. There is beauty every where in it. Also skateboarding to tell you the truth inspires me, it makes me feel more creative after I have gone.

DT: Who are some artists in the industry that you think are paving the way for the future?

JB: The whole entire Massive Black team. Those guys are extremely dedicated to there work. There are so many artists to name, Linda Bergkvist, Eric Tiemens, Justin Sweet, I could go on and on. There are many very young artists like myself who are talented, but do not have recognition, so these artists too.

DT: So tell me, what’s in your future for Justin Beckett?

JB: I am not really sure at this point where I see myself in the next few years. I am hoping my art can guide me in the right direction. And hope for the best. Some of my goals include working in the movie industry as a concept artist/matte painter. As well as doing Make up Artistry/Special Effects. I would also like to do
freelance illustration and work from my own home/studio, and be a well established artist selling personal paintings in galleries, for a side job. My main goal, I would say is to just be happy with myself and my art and get my art at a really strong safe point, but not stay stuck in that safe point. I would love to inspire the world if I can.

DT: What do you consider some of your biggest achievements?

JB: My biggest achievement to date is where I am at right now with my art. I am a completely self taught artist. I will always continue to learn, from others and myself, but I am happy with how far I have come so far. Rather than art school (since I can’t afford it) I would rather learn from watching tutorials lie at DT.

DT: What advice would you give to those just starting their career?

JB: First, make sure you are going to dedicate your whole life to it. Becoming good at drawing is a long process, especially if you are just a very beginner. If you want an art-related career, you must draw and never stop. Second, make sure you love what you are doing. If you don’t love it then success will come harder. Just be patient and most important have fun.

    "

    thx Justin.

a lot of nice updates. i think the black and white digi paints with the fruit/cell phone and cutter are really good. quite a lot of depth, good surface quality and nice light. i think you will make an awesome painter if you keep cranking those out.

    keep it coming man,

I really loved your watercolor of the two people kissing... you should do more watercolors! Your drawings are also really nice and have a lot of variety but you still have a sense of style
