25 your stuff is insperational. Keep up the good work. I agree with OBX about crits and comments in that i love getting them. That's why i come here. I have a spot on Deviant art and all i ever get is "dude, your stuff rocks my socks!" WTF?
How does that help!? It's always good for an ego boost now and then but that's about it.
I can't crit too much cuz...well frankly i have a lot to learn. I think what OBX said earlyer makes alot of sense about slightly exagerating portaight pictures. In the last pic i would say that one of Charlese's distinguishing features is her high cheekbones. So maybe if you pushed them up more it would help?
"The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work."
yes, berry nice. (yesyes i like berries... there better than verries).
i do say u kinda fudged that right eye a bit, the hair just seems may i say a lil... muddy? nah its just not reading, u just gotta tap out a lil more time on that, i bet 20 more minutes and this would be a primo peice. make that eye a lil bigger, and give some seperation from the hair. the nose and mouth look pretty good. the errors in them are not noticable unless u look between the ref and the image over and over... which means squat.
ive writen about 5 different crits, but backspaced them all, just coz i dont think many of them apply to the point of the portrait. so watever good stuff. keep on mastering master!
You got a good likeness on this one too. I think the lighting is a little confusing but it's the same way in the photo so I can't really say anything bout that.. Might wanna check on her eyes tho. She's not looking the same way in your painting as in your ref. Also I think the angle of the face might be a little off compared to the photo. All in all it's still good tho, how long did it take?
That last picture's from The Scorpion King, right ?
About your pad sketch of Charlize : my teacher told me once not to outline the upper (and lower) lip too much when doing portrait. Something about only using your blackest of blacks for the area between the lips, and using a lighter value around the lips. Maybe she's right, maybe she ain't...
