double true on the dirty-c's 3 rules obx. thx for the link. I had a talk with my friend about this too and he told me overachieving is a good way to learn. Now that I've gotten over my dissatisfaction with the vampire piece I can see where he is coming from. Part of rhe reasons why I wasn't satisfied was because of a perspective that I didn't have that is mentioned in dirty-c's rules: I'm here to make good paintings later, not now. So I really appreciate that read.

i also think we're kind of getting out of schedule with posting and commenting. What say we start bugging each other every other day if someone hasn't posted new art or hasn't left comments in another member's SB.

Another speedpaint (if you count an hour as speed). I think I ruined it toward the end. I'll post the movie later so you guys can see my weakness hehe.

good thoughts, i like reading those rules, gets me pumped up. they are also easy to apply in other circumstances, but i dont think u get the same effect... lol. yah we should be pressureing more, but not too much, the one thing i think is that wen ppl look at a persons sb, they wanna see art right? well if we were to comment and crit like crazy we would fill eachother sketchbooks up with writing, and less drawing. so mabey a good idea, would be to exchange our aim or msn screen names. this way we could be able to hassel eachother outside of the forum or sumthin. rather than fill eachothers sbs with useless hassel posts. in no way am i saying u shouldnt leave comments or crits. hell i live off them, sometimes they are the only reason i draw.

aside from all this im super glad im in the sketchgroup, i seems that we have almost everyone active, and updateing atleast twice a week. and since i live in an area were there arent many ppl interested in the kind of art i am interested in, this also give me a place to meet and commune with other artist with the same interest. its great, im feel like im getting pushed, hell i never used to draw for 2-3 hours a day. now on the occassion i do. also, must remember that we all have a life off the internet, and if a person doesnt post on that given day, theyre may or propably is a good reason, benifit of the doubt.

now that ive finished dumping a huge post in 25s sb, ill comment on ur vampire. first crit, how do i know its a vampire, if ive never read ur brief before u posted the picture? just something to think about. other than that elemental flaw, i think the whole drawing kicks ass. even if it took u an hour, it looks like it got sneezed onto the fing paper. a color full sneeze of imagination. llllove it man, i wouldnt mind to see more in that style. that calligraphic brush is intense. and i like the stokes.

Hey MASTER D-FIST 25 DAYS... Creating a character is tough, for shure... But don't give up!... I gotta comment though that you seem to be uncounsciously thinking of other characters when you're making you're own... Your cyborg is kinda reminiscent of Tetsuo from AKIRA and your vampire is somewhat looking like Alucard from Castlevania...

As for painting, I can't crit you on that, since I suck at painting myself...

hey seb, maybe it IS alucard haha. If you check the filename, I saved it as alucard 1 and 2. I just refer to it as a vampire since I don't know if everyone will recognize him.

OBX: thx for your thoughts. I didn't mean for us to bug each other with posts. I was thinking about sending PM's. But Instant msging is a better idea. That way it seems less formal and pushy.

I wish I could give some crits here, but I know so little about digital painting. Anatomy-wise, it's looking good (as far as I can tell) but personally, I'd add a little more detail to the eyes...

thats awsome! i think u hit it really well. even tho some features are exagerated. but thats wat u have to do, to make portraits work, just exagerate things a lil more, and it will be more believable and pop. its neat coz i can look at the final peice and know that its jonny depp. great stuff.

Thats so cool. You've got a funny way of sketching. Be carefull not to exagerate the difference in tone too much, cuz it become more visible when you make it more skincolorish.
