Sweet Jesus, woman, look at all this spam! Was dominating CGTalk not enough for your ambitions?!

Rebecca, you know I'm a fan, but I've got to say it again: lay off those ultra-feathered brushes!

Ha, thanks Tekksters, I wish that I had the time to finish this.

Take a look at Elsie's Master Copy from the Workshop ~ she did a fantastic job, and it was frontpaged at CGTalk (and not even by me!), receiving 11,000 hits to date:

Holy Jesus, that is an amazing copy.

No sketchbook here as of yet. I should start one very soon, though, as I've realized over the past week that my 2D has gone to shit while I've focused on 3D.

    Tekksta,

Why not join in the I5 Minute Sketchathon - Thread 2: Sketches?

Reference images for the Sketchathon can be found here:I5 Minute Sketchathon - Thread 1: Reference

You can post your results to both places. 15 minutes! That's nothin'!

your demos, notes, and tips are so helpful! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with the rest of us. I will surely be taking the time to read through it all and try it all myself...and then I will be back, drooling for more. ; )

I've been absent for a while, caught up mainly with the Workshop I am currently running over at CGTalk. I haven't been receiving notifications of responses here, so I apologize for not being very speedy about responding to your guys' nice posts here.

Been working lately on the CGTalk Challenge "The Journey Begins" which anyone can enter.

Here are a few concepts, based on the idea of the decay of the body as the start of a journey:

This concept has a lot of potential as a combination with the other one posted below it. I'd like to see the top figures flipped so as to face each other, and from that this lifespan creature comes from the 'union' and is floating below it (but only show one in the foreground). Lastly, show one more element below that (perhaps sperm and egg or carrion of some sort or perhaps chemical symbols of what we are made up of?)....I guess my suggestion iskind of a vertical triptych. Add in a lot of fine lines (life lines?) connecting everything. At any rate, these are a treat!

    Cheers!

Heya Dave, thanks for these great suggestions! I have been trying to think of ways to combine things, and had considered at one point making a kind of box, maybe even like a kind of typesetter's box, you know, old style? And putting each little vignette into a compartment, for a twilight zone kind of effect. I like the idea of flipping them, though the original thought was that they're the same person, the one on the left being dead, and the one on the right 'awake' yet also dead, and realizing that they are decaying. Good times, ay?

With respect to the jellyfish, as some folks have called them, the what I was kind of thinking with that is that each person has kind of a predetermined cycle from birth to death, and I wanted these to be sort of farcical creatures, sort of a la Hieronymous Bosch. Sort of swimming futiley with these little intertwined hands. But yeah, I think having a lot of sort of stringy connections between everything would be really cool...

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I like the idea of the two top figures facing one another, I'll have to experiment with that and with tying things together. Hmm, I also like the notion of putting these into a triptych, and may want to do 2 or 3 triptychs...

    Cheers,

    ~Rebeccak
