So you bought a desk mirror too. That's very useful tool.
Don't worry about self portraits. They just are good for practicing proportions and the likness will come later .

very nice looking stuff hp, those self portrait attempts all look great if you ask me. your shading and faces look great either way, so what if they don't look exactly like ya eh? hehe. the bleach card looks cool as well; I hear ya on the anime style, but that's fine still looks good. is this card project a personal project? or something for class?

@machzero: well normally i'm not trying to do anime, but everyone in the card proj seems to be doing that (i mean, bleach IS an anime)...i realized the facial features are quite off so that'll be fixed in the final.

@Joshawowo: thanks!

@glikster: i have a really bad scanner/camera, or else they'd be cleaner ^^

@Farvus: yeah....i worry sometimes about using my face cuz it's not "traditional" but oh well

@Onir: well usually if i bother to use a mirror i'd like it to look like me...^^ the project is something between some ppl i know...so i guess personal.

@sith: thanks, someday i'll finish it...>.<

So...I showed my teacher some of my digital WIPs, and he told me to print them out really large and throw red paint at it. Oh! and finally I went to a local sketchgroup, it was pretty fun.

some more sp work and a tdome concept and start of painting (it has to be traditional). the topic is machine like character...don't worry it will have a lot more "machinery" to it, i have to wait for the base layer to dry first. i need to fix a lot of anatomy errors too but it's late...either way i haven't painted in SOOO LONG...i think it's gonna be some crazy hi-tech squirrel-girl XD

sorry for shitty camera...i took two pics of my painting, the colors are off in both

oi hpslashluvr,

dig those pencil sketches. The later "?photographed" ones seem to show the texture and your strokes better than the earlier ?scanned one.

regarding the painted one. The lighting is from below on the figure, but from the top on the tail?

WOw, sweet updates. Sketches are lookin good. though its not much which shows ur lazy ass. :p
Painting looks very nice. abit of lighting prblems, ts like u cant notice thta ur light is from down, ,rather than left or rit. and its mostly because its a bit messy, and uve lightened some areas more. Like hair is too light. Legs are bit disorted.amrs are good. face is very intresting.
Overall i like it.

GImme mroe updatess lazy ASSS. wonder how fat u are. ... pictures are tricky. it might have be someone elses pixz . but u trully are a HUGE FATTY PARTICLE

Great update. It's hard for me to find any constructive crit in these. From what I see you're not confident with drawing neck area. The lower part of falling woman's body could be a bit less bony in comparison to the upper part, I think.
I like how you used different values of blue. The result is quite three-dimensional look.

interesting thing your teacher told you to do lol; great update though, that sp attempt looks really good, and the squirrel girl painting looks like it's coming along nicely. really nice rendering on the body and nice handling of the paint; can't wait to see how it turns out

@machzero: yeah actually i knew it was wrong, i just wanted to show my friend how it works

@HEROIC: well i wanted her hair to be white actually...i put too much blue in accidentally and then overworked it. anyways...DO YOU HAVE A JOB?!?!??!!?? i never have time to do lots of stuff cuz i'm busy btw, your grammar is so bad....i can't even tell what you're trying to say XD

@glikster: thanks!

@Unbreakable: thanks, see ya week after next at the sketchgroup.

@Farvus: well on the sketch i was trying to draw myself looking down sort of at the mirror and it ended up like shit so i gave up on drawing the rest. i'll fix the painting. thanks.

@Onir: yup....but i'm gonna throw paint at my stuff today cuz apparently our midterm grades are this week...better make my teacher happy...

um...as i've learned once before...COLORING LITTLE NOSES AND MOUTHS does not look cool. i'll prolly just make the proportions normal eventually (btw his hairline is supposed to be really really high), i don't like the way it looks now...so...COMPLETE SHIT (i know the shading is off and all the features are slightly askew, i need to use a reference):

your latest stuff, I dunno, it seems really flat. A lot of the characters (including the painting of the blue girl) remind me of the main guy from Ong Bak. (movie about muay thai)

I'm not sure if that's what you were aiming for, but I'd definitely be wary of trying to work that into a personal style.

wow, i'm definitely trying to keep my chars from looking flat, except when i just do the lineart.

anyhoo...a lot of ppl liked this sketch i did of hatori from fruits basket a long long time ago...SO INSTEAD OF BLEACH FANART I PRESENT A FANART OF ONE OF THE ONLY OTHER ANIMES I KNOW! >.<

emily (11.28: more costumes and stuff)

so I did a quick painting (will tone down the glow...i painted it on my computer and my monitor didn't look so bright, now on my roommate's i can see the difference) of the scene from fruits basket where hatori erases the memory of him and kana falling in love *sniffs* (the sketch of his face above was supposed to be from this scene)

it is pretty close to the original but i want it to look realistic instead of anime-style.

cool stuff, I'ma have to agree that dark profile pic looks really good; great usage of highlights and the monotone looks really cool. that quick one looks really cool, and I really like the way you did the glow; it is a bit bright but it definitely works well. his legs look a little wierd but I understand that it was quickly done; either way it's lookin good so far

Ciao bella!

Looks good! I especially appreciate that you´ve changed their pose juuuuuust a bit, to make them more realistic actually. I like that their weight is leaning towards us, they are much more in a 3D enviroment this way than the original way. The fact you pulled it off this nicely shows that you have a good nose on anatomical things but I thinks you have to practise your rendering a bit more. They look a bit slobby, soft brushes used on the characters and yet the grid in the window is as sharp as George W. is not.

But do more and more and I will come every now an dthen pat you on the butt.
