hey nice update and welcome back a semester worth of work in two weeks? ouuch that's rough well good luck to ya with it, I'm sure you'll pull through alright... the faces and such in the first picture look great! really nice shading on those, I especially like the girl holding the gum/cigarrette/whatever it may be to her mouth, great form and look to her. nice doodle page afterwards as well hehe, always interesting to see what other people doodle while in class/at work. the lady holding the paintbrush (I assume that's a paint brush at least) looks cool, nice and clean lines. keep it up and another welcome back

hehe, that lady holding the paintbrush is holding a little kakashi doll >.<

anyways, thanks for the comments! the class is basically over, only one more class period on tues. it's really easy because humanities is pretty basic.

more notes i drew on in class lmao...some with pen, some with pencil...sorry for the lined paper i know it's not really postworthy but some of it is fun at least ^^

and btw these are almost all done in basically complete darkness...my teacher thinks it's cool to turn off the lights while we take notes blargh! good news is i've been reading (if not drawing, at least i'm reading it!) loomis again. basically i draw the muscles all down and outline the basic form, then just practice drawing in pencil over and over right below.

Nice to see you posting again. Even doodles on lined paper are worth posting if they look good (If the lines have some colour, you can always remove them in photoshop .

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/5333/sb3qb.jpg - The face in the bottom lef corner caught my eye. Fantastic rendering. The hair looks really realistic.
I also dig the muscle and face features studies. Good job.

@Farvus: thanks, i think i thought of removing the lines in ps but i forgot >.<

    @liam.c: thanks!

@Asoir: I don't feel like i've improved at all, but sure thing ^^

@Master 25 Days: hehe yeah i drew all during class. i even had a little desk mirror for self portraits that i had in my backpack but my friend was like NUH UH PPL WILL THINK YOU'RE WEIRD AND EGOTISTICAL

@glikster: yeah sitting next to my friend in class has it's downsides, i basically draw romantic pics, or pics of her and her cat as naruto characters

@Oki: um, they're from the loomis book?

sooooo yeah of course i didn't have time/energy to do the tdome cuz of time restraints...i started to sort of play with a basic coloring today for fun and i got really mad cuz it started to look good within a few minutes ("good" is very relative but give me a break, i sort of liked it)...i could have at least submitted SOMETHING...oh well, i had already paid for my tuition anyways to the workshop.

hehe, i've been sitting at my roommate's comp while she's away since my monitor sucks...she doesn't really use her Painter anyways...

    5 minutes underpainting:

emily (11.28: more costumes and stuff)

presumably it will be a little darker in mood, like this:
emily (11.28: more costumes and stuff)

I saw some nice photos that reminded of me of the pinup I'm supposed to do of a friend. Here is a basic underpainting - i want the bg to be white so maybe it can be used as a desktop bg. i used the method my roommate uses - don't draw a sketch, just start painting. i don't think i like this method lmao!!!

nice work with your thunderdome piece, looks good so far. second one definitely has a darker feeling to it than the first, though I do like the clarity of the figure a bit more in the first one (that might just be the skin tone shows a bit more clearly in it). I like the last one alot as well, definitley came out well especially condsidering you didn't draw anything out. her leg looks a little odd around the knee, but I'm sure as you render it out it'll be fixed. nice, keep it up!

I quite like the rough masses of tone in the lineless painting... after you get that stage done you can render it neatly...

@Onir: thanks, yeah the dark one was just to show what kind of feeling i wanted in the end.

@machzero: hehe...GET ADDICTED TO NARUTO! DO IT! it's easier if you watch the anime. although i admit i haven't watched it or any other show in a long long time.

@Spade: i'm trying to finish a piece yeah...i never can seem to usually cuz i lose interest after Painter crashes a billion times. I think the new version will save before a crash though, according to Rick, a Corel guy I talked to at the workshop. DL the update! (painter IX.5)

@glikster: yeah i'm trying to see if i like this method better. so far...no...at least on chars...

So yeah the workshop was fucking awesome. That doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm still experiencing it in my head right now...anyways for anyone who has any doubts...or even no money, I would sell my house/children if i had any to go to the next workshop

wow... I can see that the workshop worked... Damn I envy you so much...
And Mach, as much as I'd like to go to the workshop... I am definitely going to be the the over-protective, paranoid parent who, when she gets older, will greet boys at the door with a noose and a shotgun...

hey, the sketchbook is looking nice. Those drawings you got from the workshop are sweet. Nice progress through this thread. I"d like to see the girl in chair pic and the tornadoe one finished. Those were two cool ideas that should find completion. I'm going to second Farvus' suggestion way back there about the values on the right shoe. It pops right out of the picture. Needs less contrast to push it back a bit.

Nice meeting you this last week. Keep it up.

I loved seeing your stuff in person, and thanks for letting me try oils for a little bit on your practice board, I think I'm going to buy a set now and try some out this summer!

I'm jealous that you had late-night drawing sessions with all of the cool artists, but at the same time I suppose it's my own fault for not being there =p

I like your nose/lip/eye studies a lot, and it's always great to see people doing Loomis.

All this stuff is fantastic. My favourite are brush pen drawings. It all makes me regret more that I didn't go to the workshop. Hopefully I might visit next one.

Oh... and I'm waiting for new update of course.

nice update; really likin those sketches, you've got such clean lines and a nice sense of confidence in what you put down. that last one came out especially well... the digital piece is coming out really nicely as well. always amazes me how tight you seem to be able to bring your renderings to digitally. looking for a crit, but can't seem to find one.. keep it up either way, everything's looking great.
