Yeah. I meant what do you do as texture artist. I'm so far from real game industry and I don't even know basic things, hehe. Fantastic portrait. Everything looks really fress.

I never had such problem w PSD files but I lost several paintings by closing them unsaved and I know how it feels .

geez your rendering always gets me hehe, you've got a great command of showing form in your figures. if I had one critique of the above I think it would be that you could push your shadows a bit darker; it might really help push the volume in your renderings (on top of what you already are showing of course). keep workin at it either way; great work as always!

Highly commendable goal. I'll be holding you to it!

    sweet

really nice anatomical studies, I've just started an SB myself as i spend far too long on studies or thumbnails and never get round to making final pieces.
Bleach drawings are so nicely done, i always find it harder to be satisfied with my own fan art sketches, especially for things as awe inspiring as Bleach! Looking forward to seeing whats next!

I'm going to be all hush hush until LMS probably, you guys just wait for my spectacularly awesome piece that beats out viag!!!!! HELLS YA!!! whenever school ends, i will get time to start...

But I wanted to address thatfatkid's post:

As for me drawing completely useless retarded art for the past 6 months . . . I'm going to school fulltime (15 hrs) and work over 50 hrs a week (where only a handful of people draw, surprisingly), and on the weekends, I'm stuck doing hw or just sleeping. After all that, I don't really feel like doing portfolio pieces >.<

I think I've felt torn between 3d and 2d and pursuing both (mostly 3d) has meant that neither one improves as much as it should. I would love my texturing job but I think ultimately I've noticed myself being more depressed about not being able to draw. So...next semester I am going to take a class or two less and focus on my drawing. As for drawing anime...I don't really want my work in the future to be classified as anime...but I've started to really love a lot of more unconventional anime styles or the way they color. I personally hate the super desaturated look and am drawn to a lot of brighter/contrasty styles.

Anyways here are a bunch of links I've been looking at, for anyone who wants some color inspiration. A lot of them are on CA but their DA galleries are so much easier to find ^^ Sorry for the long paragraph and no art...but check back in end of December

Hey. I have the same problem. Right now I either do some architecture for university and have no time for art or I draw but can't keep up with what should be done for projects. It's really frustrating.

I looked at those links and I see what you're going for. Especially after seeing the colors from the second link. They look like what I saw in your sketchbook.

    I can't wait to see your LMS3 piece .

    Cheers.

I hear ya Em, school+ work= no time. No matter how busy I am when school's out, I'm sure I'll have more time to spend on things I like. Sounds like you're doing an insane amount of work, keep doing your thing. It'll be fun to see your LMS.

Portrait at the top here looks cool!

There are some issues with the figure you said had an akward pose, but then you already knew that The area around the shoulders and collarbones in particular look kinda off.. like they don't have enough depth if that made sense... Also I think the arm closest to us should be in front of the top.. now the top looks like it overlaps the arm kinda wrong...

Thanks a bunch for the tip with gesso on my SBpages for the ink!! Gonna try it out asap!

Gonna be cool to see your LMS... I chickened out of that competition

as i lover of realistic stuff and comics/ anime - i really dig your style.
of course, your anatomy and rendering is pretty good also, so your technique + your style = pretty gosu.

since you like crits so much (which is probably which you are so good) - i'll tell you that i think you should work on color. in your matte paintings, and your character paintings - they are pretty good, but i feel that they are lacking something very subtle that could make them a lot better. especially when if you ever decided to use color dodge, lighten, and/or screen tools in photoshop/painter, i find that the computer will often do a lot of the work for you (increase value, saturation, hue). thus, i recommend some exercises in traditional media - like watercolor/oil paints. try painting something as simple as a sunset, or try to mimic "color dodge" using oil paints.

    those are my 2 cents.
g'job keep up the good work. inspiring stuff mate.

thanks...yeah i totally need to do tons of color studies.

    --------
umm started based off kiera knightley @.@ trying to practice drawing white faces but it turned asian halfway thru so whatever. also trying to practice painting straight in color and not in b/w first...seems a bit flat tho.

It's a WIP...I imagine a date with Shikamaru is really really really boring.
