    it never fails

this is just about done... and either I've stared at it too long or the picture is just lacking in something I am just not seeing.

if anyone has any tips.. help.. a lighter or a match .. sledgehammer

There is a shadow that falls over most of the forehead that makes no sense to me. I would also pay a bit more attention to the planar shapes of the face.

More immediately, what might be bothering you is that the eyes lack the contrast and definition you have in the mouth. Adding the dark accents to the eyelids and the pupils & iris will draw the viewer's attention to the face and make the image more interesting. But take care of the basic form and shapes of the face first.

I ended up cutting away all her hair... downsizing her entire head by a smidge and then redoing the face to de-muddy the complexion. The eyes.. oy the eyes.. I think I finally have a decent believable expression.

Heya Jubes, it's a pain but; I think it's better to study from reference first then try to replicate it later. I might do a handful or so quick sketches from reference or something and then try and go for it if you don't feel like doing the whole thing from reference.

For me in the beginning it's more important to learn in than to make a pretty picture, ya know? I think it best to get the foundations down pat and then jump in on something bigger.

Anyways, biggest things I can see (I'm crud with anatomy) is the nose seems to be in a different perspective than the face and the cheek seem... chubby? Watch the eyes as well, they seem a little smooshed? Hmm, sorry wish I knew enough to help more.

that bad huh? I dream of a day when I can do this without thinking that day though, is not today....

Soooo... I ripped off all her hair again (look its sinead o'connor nekkid ) and then I tweaked the nose as you suggested. lowered the eyes and upsized the head one more time.

As strange as it sounds, I find Browsing Ebay cloths sections are great for referances. I must have 1,000 modles downloaded on my computer by now. They are great for poses, light sorces, shadows, expressions and texture ideas. Having something to look at can help get the shadows (and shadow colors) more realistic. Just a thought.

Hey, I can see this one. Cool! Anyways I don't think the nose was the problem, though the update is a big improvement. The main problem is in the center line. It looks like itís off to her right a bit. Also when you look closely at human eyes, their inner corner is usually very close to if not directly at the bottom of the eye. See if this will help.

fixed the eye thank you noiion I think the removal of the hair helped a lot in fixing her skewed head.

she's got hair now.. if only scribbly hair. so safe to look now

    face good?

playing with some silks.. though I cant commit to anything until I finish foot and hand.

now here's a question.. does it need a background??

does that mean you'd care to nibble on it. or are you implying it could use a bit more lighting attention. please feel free to expand

i don't know what kind of breasts you have, but they seem to be waaay too red and puffy. flatten them out and make them look more like part of the breast... ill show you how i'd do breasts later if you need it, but ill wait and see if it gets any better first wouldn't want to underestimate your skills.

Gosh, jubilee, I wish you were posting your progress shots, because it's looking pretty good. I think a lot of folks learn by watching others' progress.

    Eveningkiss: great idea!

hey dogfood I do have a few revisions saved off.. but I've been uploading to imageshack so I've lost half of them. I can post what I do have.

uploaded what I did today.. which isnt much really. kids home from school on an unplanned day off kinda put a kink in the drawing for the day.

well this is nearing being done. I've roughed in the veils again for location but they'll need some dimension. Hand prolly still needs work. Been told the thumb seems a bit short so I'll dink with it a bit.

the picture as a whole seems lacking something though I am not sure what it might be at this point. Maybe I've stared at it for too long

much better, pink nipples are HOT!
btw, the hand is much better, but i am a little iffy about the arm and it's shape.

just keep remembering:hands are not bigger than thy face.

The old hand was pretty big, but I thnk this one is too small. Try somewhere in the middle.
