Hey! Saw this great site. Decided to post. Leave comments and critiques if you want. It's stuff from my sketch book.

SkapeGoat's Sketches? Big Update... Some Nude
these last two are some ideas for poses of a painting im going to do of my two little cousins. Hence, the wierd proportions... i think they are 9 and 5 or 6. Will post again soon.

Like the 'monster face' in your last post!
Try to make your lines a little more 'one line' instead of drawing a lot of small lines who make one line together.
I like the hand As you might know I'm practicing the hands right now, but they're hard to draw.

    Keep it up SSG buddy!
    Greetings

    Noob!-thanks man, will do.
Noe-Yeah the line thing...my life drawing teacher is all over me about that but i guess i need to think about it even in my sketchbook because it will translate to more important drawings.
dCepT-Scribblers Rule! A hard habit to break, but I will work on it. I think another thing is because I wasn't confident with these pieces I was just drawing lines with little in mind and seeing where they would take me, but hey excuses in any form are still excuses.
Zulle-Aha, finished pieces. Not on the computer as of yet I'm havin' a hard time with PS CS2. So it might be awhile but I should still post something tried.
Dose206-Most of my finished pieces are to big to scan in but I'll see if I can get my sister's digi cam. I think the lips on that horse thing are awesome it was fun to draw.

Thanks for the suppport guys will post some updates today hopefully right now I'm off to the art store to use up a agift certicate from my loving G-ma

The first few pages have a great gestural quality to them; how well can you translate that into a finished piece, I wonder?

    Update soon!

    Good update!!
The live drawings are very good, especially the ones that took more than 10 secs I wonder though, why 9 out of 10 times it's older, fatter people in figure drawings still good to practice though!
I like the oil painting, but I think it needs more refining. especially the can in front.
The male head study from the side is just awesome!
did you do that from life or from picture?

keep doing what you're doing and keep posting!

    love

These studies are really good. I really liking those gesture sketches you did and the life drawing to. I have no crits for you though. Good Job.

    Thanks guys
All of the drawings on the last post were from live models except for the still life. Which isn't very refined cause our teach wanted a quick painting. I'll show you one that I worked longer on when I get my sis's camera back again.

very nice last update, like other people have said the gestures....and well most of it really is all good, i really like how you portrayed the lighting in the more developed charcoal ones, the one of your couzin doesn't work for me so well, neither does that landscape particularly, but thats just me...

did that person really have a bowling ball!

i like the profile of the man, he almost looks cynical. i like seeing emotions in drawings, lets you connect with them....

the still life is cool to, the glass jug is far from perfect but you said it was quick and i expect its pretty hard to get across glass so quickly. everything else in that painting is nice, easily read, except maybe the piece of fabric in shadow behind the vase thingy(but i can tell what it is so its not really that be at all)

thats my two cents, more updates like this would be really good to see

    ha, great update!

makes me wish that i had loads of new stuff to show off.
i like the idea of doig 10 sec. sketches, i think i'd like to start doing that, i would imagine it helps practice capturing gestures and flow.

personally, i really liked the still life, i thought you did a pretty good job with the glass. course, i don't have much history looking at oil paintings, so my *ahem* expertise is very limited.

sorry for no crits this time, but i'm sitting here in my underwear and my wife is bothering me to spend some time with her, so I will have to get back to you on those ones.

p.s. are we gonna have some activities soon?

    chris

Kronos: Nah...It was a basketball but he really held it that way. He was old and really into his modeling thing. Anyway, the landscape was something I totally dreaded doing and hated the outcome, which means I need to practice more. On the charcoal with my cousin a few things are way off, I need to pay attention to main points more...but in real life the color isn't that bright I can't even see any yellow. Wierd.
Dose206: You don't have to have history with oil paintings to tell me that shadow doesn't work behind it or that shapes are off. I'm glad you like it though. Also, the 10 sec drawings are called gesture drawings, use some smooth media to do them it makes it easier. Oh and big paper that way your arm can be more free. PM me about those activities, let me know when you will have time and we'll work on something.

Think about form and structure...some things are looking a bit flat. Try to work in some anatomy studies.

Wow. This is embarrassing. I am seven years late.
I have been doing some minor art stuffs without schooling. Right after I started posting here I had my first of four kids. Life was and is hectic. It is a great life though. I have been trying to spend time on art and wanted to actually give a lot of effort to increasing my ability. I bought Zbrush around March this year and I have been loving it. I will spam this post with work from this year. The next post will have the project I am currently working on.

First ZSketch after purchasing Zbrush, I watched a Ryan Kingslien video on youtube right before this.
