Good work on that last one.
The rendering looks better, but on the figure on the right give more form and contraste on the abdominal area. and the left leg looks a bit off
Other than that, your doing some good work.

About the guy with the long hair : it seems to me his left arm (the one that's bend) is a bit short compared to his right.
Other than that, no crits though. Your facial expressions are very convincing...

Its Strathmore Sketch 400 series. 9x12 so it fits perfectly in most scanners .
Overdid it with different pencils in this one and it started to mess up. Oh well, I learned a few things anyway. Photo referenced

Good sketches. One imho advice, try to see the full form, detail is next.Exemple if you drawing a face try to see the form of the skull and muscle then the tone of skin lighting and shading.

Ganbat-Bad:thanks man. I guess i should hit the books for real, and do some bone and muscle studies. True i do tend to go for detail early on.

Ganbat gave a very good advice about forms before details.

    on this one
    http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...sketchbook.jpg
the navel should be placed where the fold in the abdominal is.

The new paper looks excellent man. What grade is it? Sometimes I like smoother paper for shading so the values are more consistant.

Face looks good on that one, but the head is tiny compared to the rest of the body. I'm usually shit with proportions, so I've been making a concious effort to eye up all of the proportions on every piece I do. Helps keep it always in the back of my mind. Good stuff in here brotha.

When your filling up a big area of black from the hair, don't outline too havely, keep your strokes close together and at the end add some strokes in the direction of the hair.

It's cool to see you doing these ref studies, it's different from the stuff you usually show us. I like it, they're cool, specially the girl. She looks less like she's phot reffed compared to the old guy. And dude while your at it, do some life drawing too

The Sketchbook is looking good Kresh. I assume the hatching you were refering to is on the last image? The only place that looks like it could really use some blending is on her forhead, the rest looks pretty good. The shadow on the cheek could soften a bit more as it moves to the front of her face. Right now it appears almost as a hard corner.

This is my first time to really look at your sketchbook. I really like the Mechina-boy, and the rest looks great too. Strych9ine was right about the proportions looking off on the Civil War portrait, but it would be interesting to see the reference...could be the dude just had a small head and broad shoulders. I appreciate your efforts in pushing yourself, keep it up its looking good!

Nik, good stuff! Paper does make a difference, doesnt it? It was the same for me.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...sketchbook.jpg - I like the poses, good shading too.

Nothing to crit actually, you have a very cool style. A bit scribbly sometimes, but considering the good line quality on the civil war dude and the girl, I suppose you intended it that way.
What medium did you use for your 2 latest sketches, is that regular pencil ?

i sometimes change the color of the lines in ps. I wonder if there are any erasable pencils that have a sepia color to them, i would totally buy them.

wicked stuff on page three. You know how much you know yourself when you can do a SP from memory lol (just joking).

    http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...rt/haircut.jpg
one of my professors has a hairdo sorta like that.

The environment piece is superb and not just for a first time. The planes are divided pretty well and the rust on the metal is a nice touch.
