Usually when you focus on construction and 3d volumetric forms, it's really hard to play with ideas and designs. That's why I think you gotta practice a lot with constructing and later all that knowledge will show up in loose more gestural doodles. You can also draw your design first without worrying too much on proportions and just use it as your blueprint for constructed figure sketch. More work but it pays off.
The color face study of Dracula looks really good. You will see some differences in value when you look at both with squinted eyes. For example the shadow on his forehead seems to be too dark. The mark that describes his left eye pouch (right side of picture) is a also a bit too dark.
