    Critique my Mom's Christmas present!

So for some reason, my mother wants a drawing from me for Christmas. The following is the first draft of what I came up with, and I'd really like some critique on it. The stem bothers me the most, but I like how the actual flower came out even if it's asymmetrical.

Actually, the flower itself is approximately symmetrical, not asymmetrical. If you run a verticle line down the center, it is generally equivalent on both sides. As far as the piece as a whole, it seems to be lacking mid-tones. Unless you are going for a startly contrasting light dark piece, I would add some midt-ones to soften the transition of the shadow on the stem.

Whatever you do, don't look at my Sketchbook and Painting Thread!

No, that's exactly what I'm going for.

When I said asymmetrical, I meant that one of the petals was a different shape from the opposite side.
