    ** mini-art dump for the holidays **

Well same old story - very busy at work, not much time to post, blah blah blah. These were done over the last month or so, usually late at night before bed when I try to squeeze in a bit more art before the day is through.

    requisite post-apoc fellow:

This was a photoshop doodle that went too far.

I started playing Diablo 1 again - and old but awesome game, and realized I liked it a lot better than Diablo 2. It's actually pretty creepy...it made me realize D2 was more of an action game, and D1 was more of a horror game - and as a result had loads more atmosphere. Anyways, creepy paintings ensued.

That's it for now. Looking back , I can say 05 has been a great year for me, and I feel I grew as an artist - I hope I can continue to push myself in 06. Thanks to CA for all the motivation and inspiration.

I could gladly marry the colour pallete of the 2 one.

Love yer works, but one small crit, keep an eye on the hand of the first character, actually, its not the hand, its the gun... by the possition of the hand, the gun shouldnt be pointing that way.

And oh man, the way you resolved the robe on the third pic, genious!

My friend, this pieces are amazing. Lots of inspirations.
If you don't mind I have a little crit about first character's gun. It seems a little putting problem. Gun's hole have to be turn... Forget it. I couldn't talk.
    Your works are great.

excellent stuff. the only crit I have with the first one is that the gun seems to be pointing at an awkward angle for how his arm and hand are. other than that, sweet stuff. great color choices.

I wish I could offer the same valuable crits you usually leave for me, Daryl, but apart from agreeing with Sam on the hand of the first guy, I'm just too busy enjoying the eye candy.

These are interesting to see as an end of year dump as they highlight the growth you talk about. In paticular, the more restrained palette which you seem to be favouring recently is looking more natural. I think this serves your work very well. Can't wait to see what lies in store from you in 2006..!

Wow that's nice. All the characters in therse pictures look really alive, especially the first oner. I have to agree with the funky direction the gun is poking though. You wouldn't notice at first, but it does throw you off just a little bit.

    fantastic!!!

    one question....

on the robe on the third pic - how did you get the repeat pattern down the side - was it drawing it all out, or a brush, or a repeating process (cloning or something) - i would love to know!

    thanks for the pics!!

Really cool stuff. Dig the textural exploration of the second and third pieces. Those stand out. Now I am curious to see what is hidden behind those NDA walls....

Shit man. I love that creature senond from the bottom. Great overall texture and ambiance to the piece. The fingers and proboscis make it especially perverse too. Great as always, man.

Oh man thah second sketch especially cathed my eye, the colors are amazing and very well made for a doodle. The overall comment is that they all have amazing palletes and are original.
Though i am not so much into the 3:rd pictures background, i know its not the focus but it seems a bit too sharp. just trying to give a comment and crit

Somehow I get the impression there's something wrong with the gun - haha. Well you guy's are absolutley right, so thanks for catching that.

Matt Dixon; thanks Matt - I love to experiment with color and I find I'm pretty erratic....one minute things will be really saturated and the next I'll tone it all down, and it sort of works in a cycle until I find a resting spot. I guess I feel I'm getting better at determining where that spot lies.

Tom Garden; Thank you - that was done really quickly with one stroke of a custom brush in PS - pretty basic really. It just happened to make a pattern that appealed to me so I ran with it.

tensai; I've been thinking about starting a sketchbook thread actually, although I'm sure my upddates would be pathetically slow.

Lazy; thanks for the crit. It might be slight sharpen I put on these after I reduce them in size for the web that's doing that. I'm just lazy like that. =)

Thanks a ton for all the comments and crits guys, you make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Hey, Daryl- I just wanted to say that I just looked over your old Grand Space Opera thread and boy, it was such a treat. Its really amazing how the development of that piece just kind of took on a shape of its own.. and the only two ideas you kept from the original sketch was the two characters.. Pretty amazing stuff... I saw that you didnt enter the new challenge at Cgtalk. I guess you were too busy or just tired of being the top dog!!! either way I hope I see something epic again.. they are a real treat.

No worries man - I'm sure most of us would love to see that happen anyway. Beautiful work as always - the first one has a great post apocalyptic atmosphere.
