Tom again... I took the liberty of making him look like a lifeguard with all the sunscreen on his nose. hah

    incolorinred's sketchbook
unfocused pictrue of a sketch of two feathers with black and white ink.

A very quick, loose sketch done from photo.

that's it. been figure drawing lately, but churning out so much garbage. My proportions are really rusty as the last post shown. Still trying to get focused again after my long recess during the summer.

played hookie from work for this...

A little master copy doesn't hurt from time to time! Just got some charcoal pencils for the first time and I am experimenting. Worked on this for a couple hours today. What is everyone's experience with this media?

Started learning oil painting in art class. So far it has been a disaster! Maybe after a couple classes, if my painting comes along to some kinda of resemblance of art, I'll post up some progress shots.

My experience is that you must work veeery slowly with them. Analyse patiently and go from light to dark. One thing that I've done in my longer charcoal studies is value patches. Finding the largest areas of value (starting from the lightest/darkest!)and just doing a square. After doing several squares, you can relate them to each other and make sure the value relationships are correct.

Flakpost- Thanks for the compliments. I do enjoy sketching with inks. Lot of fun.

    Brat- Thank you very much.

Ian Mack - yeah, I tend to do that sometimes with pencils. Charcoal is pretty tempermental. You are right, patience is the key.

underpainted the hammer today, haven't been painting for awhile. I'm a little bit rusty I think.

A couple sketches from my head of possible painting ideas, I've been sketching them out as they come in a drawing pad now. New practice of mine and I like how it is turning out. Helps me from forgetting, like how one writes down dreams after waking up.

Hey inc, Nice sketchbook. Good use of pencils, the form really shows. I would suggest trying some more tonal work to help stretch your current range. Other than that, keep it up and keep posting :-)

hammer,... color is really poorly reproduced in this photo. I like the concept of this painting.

This little thumbnail is of a painting I had been working on in my studio class on and off for months. Finished with it now. Gone as far as I can with it.

Starting to draw and paint a lot more now. Have some more to post as soon as I can snap a pic of them.
