    another goddamn troll!!

ok I might be posting this one a bit early but the cheap liquor is speaking for me tonight gents!

This one is based on the legend that trolls turn to stone if sunlight touches them. This wandering viking stumbles across an old specimen of this legend. hope you likey. i'm going back to draw.

great lighting dude. But the biceps and the lower arm on his right side don't really go together, do they? Other than that - brilliant...

Until I read the description, I thought the troll just turned to stone when the viking showed up (like he popped up to get the little guy, but forgot it was daytime). For that aged look, I would imagine the very sharp corners and thin edges (like the nails) would be affected by some erosion.

Very sweet rendering and line work, though.

Can you make this one in color. I would love that!
I really like the hands, verry nice.
Ow i really like how you render the hole thing. Is it only done with pencil?

very cool. love the expression on the trolls face, and the chosen angle of the hands and the over all detail is just splending. great work.

Nicely done, my only comment is whether the stone which appears to have some small cracks in it would be able to support the extremities without snapping off. I think it would be interesting to show a very ancient petrified troll thats been broken or whatever.

Other than my own little ideas, I love the drawing, very well done.

this is excellent. if i may make a suggestion: hint at his lower appendages...maybe have a knee cap pop through the grass, or toes or something to remind us that all of him is there and it's just been a long time.

i hope you get time to color this!

Thanks guys glad you like it. As far as the cracked stone being able to hold up under the stress?....It's all held together with imagination. Lewiston I'm not sure I understand your crit on the right arm. I didn't draw the legs because I'm just a lazy bastard sometimes.

    Thanks,
    Mitch

Awesome troll. Personally, I think the viking is a little distracting.

what bothers me is there is no interaction between characters. Otherwise i really like your pencil work.

    Thanks fellas.

Robot--distracting. please explain yourself. nothing like a good educated critique.

Lord Blue-- never meant to have any interaction between these two. the viking is there to simply show scale and tie in the folklore origin. I look at it this way. when people go to Mt. Rushmore and get their picture takien with it; do they interact with it or stand there in front of it and get their picture taken. I wanted this to have that feeling. Where it's almost nonchalant. Trolls are something these guys deal with regularly. Bjorn the Viking comes here every Thorsday with Helga to chill out underneath the old troll and burn a fatty, drink meade and eat lefsa. In this pic she brought her "camera" and grabbed a shot.

After all the compliments youve heard, im going to give you the single best one. Your trolls inspire me to do trolls of my own. I just love it how awesomeness is contageous!

Doing trolls is a great step for me. so far ive ONLY drawn vehicles. Characters scare me silly. But trolls appear to be my way in thanks for inspiring.

    Regarding Troll

If there were no cracks in the arms, one might say it were a boring stone troll wouldn't you think?
The idea that the guy doesn't interact with the Troll, makes the fact that the Troll as blended into part of the environment more interesting to me.

    It's a cool drawing!

If I were to throw a crit in there, it'd be get off your ass Cotie stop smok'n hooch, eating leaves or mead or whatever the hell it is you do and get some colour in these Trolls post haste!
