bluefooted - This last one is beautiful, both the line version and color one work well on their own. Your color is getting better and it wasn't bad before.

Thanks for all the nice comments

Here's a little update to that last piece. I'm not quite done tweaking it yet - the top is too washed out, and the colors could be better, etc. Hopefully, it will be finished soon!

Lovely piece.
The colors on the octopus are so nice. Great sense of design. Your style is so clearly personal and unique.

I wonder who your influences, artist-wise, are.
A hint of Alan Lee, Arthur Rackham, perhaps?

I really love your style the lines and sort of symbolic look of them, and how you make the digital look traditional!

Great job girl!!!!!!!!!

This last one is stunning, the pattern created by the suckers on the tentacles is really great. Say, what did you get into spectrum?

Good luck on the science job, maybe there is a way to blend illustration with that and open up more grants?

Such wonderful colors and line work. Very inspirational stuff. I'm surprised you just do these as a hobby. I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble finding work.

Thanks for the comments! I appreciate it.

AztcFireFlower: Definitely Rackham - that's probably pretty obvious. I also really love Dulac, Mucha, Amano, and James Jean, though that might be hard to tell from my pics. Thanks for the comment!

Idiot Apathy: Thanks! Let's see, for Spectrum, one of the pieces is the Alice in Wonderland pic that's in my avatar and the other is my calendar girl. I was very, very surprised they got in.

Here's this week's COW: Cupid's Pet. I really wanted it to look like a woodcut in the style of Albrecht Durer (<--- pretend there are two dots over the u). Lines ended up looking better than the color (as usual), but that's okay.

Aw , this is beautiful, I actually prefer the color. Maybe you dont like it because the "thing" head is not cutting out of the background enough, the outline is ticker on the wings making this part pop more. It is actuaaly really close of Durer "bird" (I dont remember the exact title of the work) same lines and color scheme. awesome job.

I agree with Solon, I think it really comes together in the color version.

Hi,
I'm sure you're told this alot, but your work reminds me so much of Rackham's fluid line-work, (except you're a far better colourist than he was) - you have a whole 'golden age' feel to your work and its simply beautiful! I know it's wrong, but i still cant help but be jealous of your bloody amazing talent!

The octopus is totally rad, I love the color and pattern. I also dug the way you handled the feathers on that one figure composition, gave me an idea that I'll try out one of these days, thanks a lot.

Love your technique!
I don´t know if it is your intention but some of your paintings look a bit static/ less emotional for me. For example the second and third last piece.
I miss some emotion from the captured boy who probably want´s to escape.
(but perhabs you wanted to snap the situation after that...)

nevertheless... awesome!!!

Xaya
