Another finished photoshop rendering
alright, here it is, i've finally finished, it took me awhile due to the fact that i didnt know how i should finish with the blades, but i think i got it right. Tell me what you think, im dying to know (seriously) the reason for the large amount of blackness is shadow, but you cant really tell because i didnt put a background in. i felt that the characters form could be realized better that way. Just my thought.

Its kind of hard to comment on the picture as it is. The character for most part is unclear. You say he's hidden in shadow, but shadow from what? the lighting kind of irratic. The right side of his face (his left) is iluminated, so light is coming from the left. But if this were true, that side of his body would also be illuminated. The same principle goes for the object in the foreground there is light illuminating parts of it from the front, so why is'nt it illuminating parts of his body to? Then, his swords and hair are completely devoid of any shading, which makes it more confusing.
Also, take a look at the way shadows fall on an object. Shadow is not atuomaticly an opaque black, like it is portrayed here. It has a gradient. My suggetion is to think more about how your going to light a subject. Pick one light source, and concentrate on that. Look at how light effects object in life to get a better understanding of how it works.
This may seem like a bit over an overkill crit for an image in this style, but these principles still apply. I would like to the completed image, so I could see whats actually there. Like i said its hard to fully comment on the picture when its unlcear whats going on. Keeping on working, hope this did'nt seem disheartening to hear or anything .
We'll ride the spiral to the end, we may just go where no one's been

if i were to put a background into the picture, it would be pitch black, and the only light source would be the swords, which are of the energy blade variety, but you do have a point, i'll see what i can do about the shading.

Uhhh I dont think coloring everything pitch black counts as shadow, I think you just filled everything in with the paint bucket and called it shadows. I cant really even tell whats going on in this, what is that thing with the grey on the bottom? This is definitely not Finished Section quality, I suggest you go and read the rules before you post again in the Finally Finished section.

I think what you need to do is grab some refs and hit the basics hard. Practice seeing by doing stuff from ref and that will help you be capable of, even in this style, taking a character, exaggerating as needed and turning him to fit whatever scene youre trying to make. Theres not much in the way of crits here, just work from the bottom up on your art and youll improve in no time.

see the highlights on this catwoman suit? and you see the way jim lee has done this in the drawing behind her? i'm not saying go all crazy like that but your drawing would look better and be easier to read if you throw in highlights and all that stuff. hope that helps

Those swords look like they're glowie, so they'd cast some light on him/her/it. There would also be some reflected color, from the look of it.

It's ok if you want to do some fan art... I think megaman characters are very cool, but I would suggest you to take the next step and try to make your own dynamic pose. You could use the pose, artwork and creativity as an inspiration for your art work. Try it out and who knows maybee you could come up with something way more interesting.
