Towarlock - I fear your words are lost on me and would be best understood whilst on equal amounts of whatever it is you're tripping out on. May the voices in your head be cheerful and friendly.

paperx - Thanks man.. doubt it'll ever be too fancy but I'm working on getting semi fancy atleast.

EAD - Hmm not really.. charcoal I had a shot at some time back.. spose I could but it gets a bit messy for my tastes... though I think you might be onto something. *has an idea*
    Thanks man

Charles Ratteray - why thank yee.. have been enjoying your sketchbook a whole lot btw

ajvenema - thankyou and I will

Except for the first shot they're all from last weekend. My gf's friends son(and a friends, friends son too).
Nothing I've ever done, art wise, has ever fallen near the "cute" mark.. but within child photography its unavoidable.

Hey there! Your photography is eyecandy, crisp and clear pictures with both fun and interesting content. The child in your last post is adorable, especially the ones on the beach. Great stuff

Also wanted to say how inspirational your drawings are, been going through your thread and been very motivated! Your figure drawings look amazing.

great and cute update lukias! i really like this one although i have this feeling that it would look better if the shot was lowered and showed more of the beach at the top, at the moment the child is close to right around the upper middle and it just feels weird to me for some reason...

....but you probably know way more than me about composition and such, and i dont really know much about photography so im just going by gut feeling alone here, sorry

AsaB - why thanks and yeah, quite the cute kid isn't he, not hard to get good shots with such a easy-on-the-eye subject

    Davio - cheers

dadushin - indeed it isn't!. Thanks man

Skeiff - yeah man.. next year I'll post up some digital stuff. Just learning the ropes at the moment and experimenting.. its proving a bit more rewarding than when I attempted it a few years back. I think I could get into it. Thanks

agelaos - thanks for them words.. we all need encouragement!

paperX - nope you're right mate.. composition being so abstract its a hard thing to handle. Practice practice. Cheers eh

maxetormer - awesome man, go hard.. make sure to post up your shots when your done. Big cheers btw. (enough of the "god" talk eh.. I'm not being modest, its just far from the truth)

Jens - haha.. your choice in pets is skewed by friend, you need help!. Although based on my drawings I need... special help. Very special.

Well heres the rest from that series.
My last post for this year. So with that I say MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!. Drink, hold hands, and be merry(and do whatever else it is you do over the holiday season.. you crazy, weird artist people. I know I will be)

oh wow! I just realized I have pretty much the same exact pencil holder. I got it as a birthday present some four years ago or so, still travels with me everywhere along with a sketchbook.
anyways, I'm eager to see what you've been up to during your hiatus from posting so here's hoping to see something soon

somnus - thanks very much for the feedback... and always a pleasure to see someone notices

taj - this thread is the catalyst??. Mate, you need to have a gander in the photography section. Thats some truely inspiring work in there.
    Nevertheless, cheers!

Eyal - I used to have my cheeks squeezed constantly as a wee lad. I had, afterall... massive cheeks.
Workshop?... yeah that'd be cool. Location/money is always an issue when you live in NZ. Its pretty far away from anything. It'd be like $2500 just for the plane ticket. Maybe if a sell a shitload of paintings I'll think about it

yarkirb - Digging from the depths!! Ye old paintings. Yeah I don't want my paintings to look like photos, its not the point for me. Its the ever elusive, painterly yet realistic result, that I strive for.
    Thanks though

Inverted Chalupa - Cheers man, lovin your work too.

Chrishly - video tut??. Heh, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Do you mean a sketching tut.. as in a video of me sketching or one explaining my process?.

    dynamike - Cheers

    JPC - Thankyou!.

    cupidsart - Cheers

kinnas - Heh, yeah I got mine about 4 years ago.. take it everwhere with me aswell as my sketchbook. Well... I used to. Lately for the first time, I've been slacking.
Hopefully over the next few days I should have various stuff that is to your liking.

    /Gak - Cheers

Mainloop - Haha, kids. So noisy. This little guys is a cutey though and wasn't afraid of the camera. Which helps.
    More kids on their way!

    Dished - thankyou!

Right well after nearly 6 years of posting here and plenty of comments regarding my total lack of digital or character colouration I'm attempting to get on the bandwagon.

Bar a couple of scraps this is basically my progression, piece for piece. Got a fair bit so will post them up along with other work over the next week or so.
The digital stuff is all VERY BASIC. I'm keen to do this right and don't want to try running before I can walk.

I guess like anyone starting out, I have no idea what I'm doing and for the first time in a while I am a blatant NOOB.

    Prepare to be totally underwhelmed.

Damn, this is a really good start for digitals. I've seen a lot of your drawings around (which are frickin awesome, btw), but do you paint a lot as well?
edit: Nevermind, I just browsed around your sb and realized you paint quite a bit (those are awesome too). My bad.

man, i don't have that much digi experience, but i can tell you are going more than great, it feels like real oils the way you apply the colors, the textures, the brush strokes.
This one is my favourite of the batch http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1204764622 along with this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1204764554

just keep at it man, you'll be doing it as you draw and paint traditional in no time.

    Cheers man.

waaazzzzup... awesome works maaan! this one is fucking fantastic... awesome study!

beautifully done... one thing that feels a little weird is the hair though... you seem to approach hair like you approach most things, when it can sometimes be advantageous to paint it more scumbly and abstract... with soft edges

i'm probably just being an ass, but anyway.. you can always look at how hussar does it. you've probably seen this gallery but i'm posting it anyway.

cheers man... love your updates! (beautiful photos!)
