a bird crashed into my window!

I have my pc next to a window, I was chatting with a friend on msn, and suddenly a bird crashes into the window!! I open the window and go out and see it lying there, I think it smashed one of its wings. I went downstairs, got a cardboard box, and rested it there. After a few minutes I checked back to see how he was doing, but he was dead. At least he died quick. This just happened : S

    Hey Broken.

Yeah know the same thing happened to me at work here. I have my computers in front of a row of double-paned windows. One day I came into the office to find my boss cleaning up after a pheasant crashed through both panes, a screen mesh, the blinds, & my computers. The bird must have been going mach 5 as there were feathers, blood, bird parts and glass (mostly in dust form, making it dangerous to breate) all over the place. it was disgusting.

Jason, a pheasant? Those things are huge! Sounds like mess : S

Actually its a pretty common thing I think, I saw it happen one other time a few years back at a friends house. I guess they can't recognize the glass.

Duddlebug had a pigeon crash into his window a bit ago, being chased by a goshawk. His girlfriend went to the window and the hawk was tearing into the pigeon with its legs astride it, ripping out it's guts! She filmed the whole thing on their camcorder, and it makes for some gruesome footage. In the background you can hear Duddlebugs girlfriend feeding their baby whilst the hawk gobbles pigeon, and the sound works pretty well with it!

Did you by any chance see adam savage and jamie hyneman outside in the bushes with their bird cadaver cannon?

yeah know the strange thing is...is that the damn thing lived. We heard noises coming from one of the back offices and sure enough...there she was resting atop on of the cubicles. We had to scare the thing using a computer box to make run out into the main area and then back through one of the windows.

I remember hearing that birds see reflections of the sky & clouds in glass & think that're flying into open sky. This is why some office buildings have tinted windows.
