The Tavern In The Trees
The tavern in the trees lies halfway between two distant cities, deep in a dark swamp, along a major caravan route. It is the only stop between these two cities, and for many men on the long journey, it is an irresistable temptation to be waylaid by its promises of grog and cheap women.
The tavern could not be built at ground level due to the extremely unstable swamp conditions. The patron of the tavern was recently made aware of a new tavern, further along the caravan route, with promises of EVEN MORE grog and cheap women! This has led to a major renovation of his premises...
There is opportunity for a LOT of detail and design in this brief! Once again, the topic is open to interpretation in terms of its time period and so on. Interior or exterior is fine, as long as it shows the swamp environment clearly.
at the moment the scale seems way off though. Looks like that door is about as high as his knee good mood lighting though. Just reduce the figure height for more scale... also the path is quite high in saturation (and equal along its length) which is something else you may want to think about (in terms of atmos. perspective in such a hazy enviro). Just some things to thikn about while its still in wip stage?
Form, if this is too sketchy, feel free to not pass it on to the voting round, but I think this is going to be as good as it gets this week for this one. I'll try to get back and noodle it some, but I wanted to make sure I had something for this week because it was such a cool topic.
PS - do we need to include a description, or is that iimplied in the brief? Just clarifying.
Ohwell, ended up with "Tavern of Trees" instead of "Tavern in the Trees"...

I call this tavern - Deadwood, as its built from the carcassses of nearby shipwrecks and driftwood/marsh trees, which represents a way point/trading house/entertaintment for the two cities - Valyan (situated high in the mountains, producing rare crystals, glow orbs, precious stones and gems) and Nustar (the thriving merchant town adjacent to the swamp land)
