Topic: Melee Combat Alien Mech
Description: In the far future, the Chinese government will overpass the space technology of all rival nations and have estblished homebases on far away planets.
An hostile and intelligent alien race was discovered on a planet in a far away system. The aliens attacked the Chinese and repealed their attempts in harvesting information of their world, aswell destroying all their research ships.
The chinese government choose to send out a squad of space marines in a newly devolped Space Mech. Space Travel does not allow the transport of nuclear or biological weaponary, so the Chinese Space team devolped mechs with strong Melee capibilities to protect future research teams.
These Mechs were known as the DarkSharks.

davi, I wanted to ask, I'm puzzled by something. Its a nit-pick, but the intrigue is genuine... so bare with me, please.
The activity is called Industrial Design, but I looked up ID on wikipedia and got this.
My question is that, is there a difference between saying Industrial Design, and Vehicle or Tech or Mech Design? I don't know much about the subject, but based on the little I've read, it seems that ID is something more geared towards producing things that have a purpose, in real life application. The subject of this week is something either fictional, or asuming (asuming the Chinese government will have space stations, asuming there will be aliens, etc). It sounds like the context is something more towards a game or movie.
If there is a difference between designing products for real life use, and designing concepts for the content of entertaining products, wouldn't it be more appropiate to call the activity something like Tech or Mech Design?
well the problem is, i tried to do a practical Industrial design challenge before, about solving the issue of blindness, and there was an exterme shortage of results, the second topic was about a plantary defense against asteroids and the such, each are practical, but difficult because it's generally not what someone would want to put time into.
So im going to try to make it as interesting as possible, vechicles, futureist practicalities based on gusses of the future, but i shall be bring topics such as shoe design, modern kitchen appliances....
Cool. Yeah I noticed not many people were participating before. Personally, the impression I had of the activity is that you had to be either an industrial designer or an industrial design student to make an entry that held a chance, and that made the activity quite intimidating for someone who is neither. But I guess there's no real reason not to join, so I'll try to jump in on this one too : )
(though I haven't finished any of the other 3 activity entries... ugh)
Allright, enough talk. Time to get started.
no guns, melee.
either brute strength or wicked agility.
Go for it....and no one shall complain about stopping the activity if you don't post cool artwork for this one!!! I wanna see some motherfucking mechs over here right now!
okaaaaay. I'm in for this. Yum yum Melee Mechs!
I take this , a typical 3/4th view woudl be sufficient?
Does it have to be digital or markers/pen/pencils acceptable?
ace, this is good practice, i hope i have time to take part, it'll stop me just sketching figures...
yeah, technically not industrial design since it's fictional but it's 'conceptual industrial design', and solving problems that don't exist yet it's still solving problems, and getting realistic ideas onto a medium that can explain them (pencil on paper).
i'd like to see some more basic, less far fetched suggestions (i'll try to think up a few myself) to allow entrants to work from first principles- designing a space mech is a bit much considering the amount of work that goes into designing something like a piece of furniture, let alone an electronic product- some things to let entrants really explore the problem and hopefully give some innovative solutions.
Black Shark,description is coming,cheers
