Thank god that's censored. My virgin eyes couldn't have handled seeing blue boobies.

Lots of anatomy problems (the horse, the breasts, the foot, the knees, the man's arm and face - photoref!)- and I'd suggest going over the background with a transparent white wash to tone down the saturation and create depth - birhgt now the picture looks flat.

This is making me wonder what the Back Giant looks like and how hot his daughter is.

Conan never actually catches the girl in the story. In fact, you have her looking like she is being rescued by him. In the story she lures men into the hills where her brothers then ambush and kill them. However, seeing as Conan is one bad-ass mofo, he kills her brothers, and she simply runs off into the mist. Conan tries to follow her, but passes out from exhaustion. Other than the anatomical problems already mentioned, the fact that this doesn't actually represent a scene from the story is bothersome.

    Dude -

Never Censor your own images. If you are going to paint and post it, let us see it. There will plenty of other people who will be more than happy to censor you should you inspire offense.

In this case the black censored label makes an already weak image worse.

As others have pointed out your figures have some serious issues. The stuff that stood out the most to me was her leg and the wrinkles around the knee. And his arm and the odd foreshortening.

And the the horse also has some the same issues with anatomy and foreshortening.

Your painting style isn't helping either. Its all very flat. You need more contrast and more effective use of lighting to help make this pop.

Thanks for for all the replies. I'll continue to work on my anatomy and painting in general. I did this for a drawing contest on another board. I've never read much Conan and just came across the "Frost Giant" title. I just used it for a spring board.

Also, it's "Frost Giant," not "Front Giant." Sorry, but I'm a huge Conan geek.

OK, that makes more sense. Never mind about my "Back Giant" comment. I was just noticing the angle that Conan was apparently leaving the "Front Giant" and could only imagine he must have entered through the Back Giant.

    Grisley stuff, being a Barabarian.

    Fgd

First I commend you on your choice of stories to do your art about.

The Frost Giants Daughter is a great story and has had some very talented artists lend their skills to bringing it to life. Frazetta did the conan cover on the novel. An artist named Barry Smith penciled and inked it very well in a comicbook story years ago and a current artist named Mark Schultz has also done some fine FGD artwork.

Your artwork here will get high marks from me just because I like what you are doing and I like the road your taking with other works that you have posted on this site, I just like it my opinion.

My crits are the same ones that have been posted by other members. Keep sharpening your skills and listening to the feedback you get. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

    Bruce
