Cthogua's Book of Sketching, now with 10% more nudity

Hello, anyone and everyone....I finally got around to scanning in a portion of my sketchbook to present here. Let me know what you think. Almost all of these are ballpoint sketches and I tend to be alittle to light (a problem I've been trying to correct) +my scanner is on its way out so I toyed with the levels on alot of these to bring up the contrast

nice first post! really like your technique, really fine lines. Try doing more crosshatching in different directions in the darker parts. Make it so that the white of the paper is the lightest part there is. Be careful to not make it dirty and blotchy though.

    Keep it up!

Love the creatures. The humans look like you got bored with them because they're too normal.

    whoopsie...missed a day

PrinceofHappiness Thanks man, and yeah I do have a tendency to hatch in one direction instead of cross, good eye

Max Thanks...and you're dangerously close to the truth there about the people...the real truth though is that my full figures are kinda weak (so I should be drawing more...) and creatures can be more fun than other possibly more productive things like studys Seriously though, I've been trying to take a figure drawing class or find a group to get with that does it, but I haven't found anything that works with my schedule recently.

Sad show for the last few days Over the course of the past week I did manage to 1.)get my power cut off a day before I got paid and was going to pay the bill (there was also a misunderstanding on my part as to how long I had before they came to shut it off) the battery in my car died, and we got a hurricane (although it really wasn't that bad here, just really windy rain) So theres three bad things...I'm supposed to get a good one next....right?

Sorry 'bout the sob, 'ere's mah post

    Crazy awesome stuff!
Your creature designs/wierdo doodles are kickass. I too do a lot of sketching in ballpoint and mechanical pencil and you've inspired me to aim for cleaner lines and richer detail. you're heads aren't bad either, I think you could really take off with some study of anatomy, even just finding some books online or at a library helps a lot. being able to handle the forms of heads and figures can really help you build form in creatures and doodles.
it would be awesome to see some of your sketches colored, just jump right in with digital or pastels or something and have fun throwing down different colors and building up layers.

keep up the great work, i'd love to see more!

Holy Jesus I let this thing dry up! Well here is some stuff I did this morning before work + a speed paint from a few days ago...Sadly my scanner has died so no traditional stuff till I can find an alternate place to scan my stuff in.

Thanks Lukavi...I don't remember if I thanked you in your book or not...kinda in a rush right now so I'll check later, but I love your characters they have a very personal look to them.

Very nice. Some sweet clean lines through those creature designs.

When you getting that new scanner?
