    icon maker?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program (preferably freeware) that I can use to make desktop icons for folders and such that can be used for Windows and Mac. I did a search here, and I found one program, but it was only for Windows - and I use a Mac.

    - thanks in advance folks!

Here's a good one I just downloaded a couple of days ago. Easy to use, and works well. You can even import jpeg, bmp, and gif files. I've only used it a few times, but if you have any quesitons just ask me.

oops...never mind. I just saw that you use a mac. Can't help you with that one.

On a Mac, I don't know why you feel you need a specialized program. If you have photoshop or even Photoshop Elements, create a 32 x 32 pixel document and create some cool graphics for it (You could also create a larger proportional-sized document & rez down to 32 x 32). When you have a design you like, "Select All" & copy.

In the finder, click once on the file you want to attach the icon to and bring up its "Get Info" window. Click the document's icon in the Get Info box and "Paste."

Presto! Your document will have a new icon.

thanks figure2 .. . I have made icons like that before...but when you take the folders to Windows, they don't stay that way. When you do them like that do your icons translate inter-operating system? (i couldn't think of a good way to say that)
