    NO Dancing Allowed!!

    http://www.cnn.com/US/9704/04/dancing.ban/

A New York Cabaret Law forbids dancing in restaurants. Ungghhhh I feel sick. It's old but damnnnnn. First time I hear of this.

    Yeah, thats really, really old.

Besides, you're in Montreal! Do you come down often? Its certainly NOT as though there is a lack of places to dance in New York. I'm dancing right now.

edit: Though now that I've managed to block out the events of the last week, maybe its time to go back to my old avatar.

There are slews of old laws that are completely unenforcable (not saying you can't enforce this one) and entirely unconstitutional. They are usually still on the books because the amount of money it would take to remove them isn't justified when you see how ridiculous they are.

This one was probably pushed by dance hall owners (in the '20's) so they could continue to charge folks to come inside and dance (eateries may have started impinging on their business).

But...in Footloose...dancing was outlawed in his town. And had to go to a neighboring town to dance. Then people found out and got all pissed. Cause like...dancing killed John Lithgowe's son. Or something.
