Just ran across your thread, its so inspiring seeing your progress and utter talent... you've become so fast! Its refreshing to see a great attitude and approach to studys. It seems your patience has grown too. These days how much ref do you typcially use? Anyway outstanding stuff thanks for sharing.

I love your work. The pencil drawings and ships being my favorites. Thanks for the inspiration. If you have a moment I would appreciate some crits or a nudge in the right direction. Take care.

The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money - the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art.

Oh, Adam, I'm such a dickhead, I was gona reply, 'thats a cool digital clock, where did you buy that?' then I noticed, it was a study, and that I wasnt on Facecrack anymore...duh...
Beautiful studies, esp the tin and flower one above, has inspired me to go hit the studio and do the same...
BTW - there are two empty studio spaces at our...studio. If you think you can afford it, maybe you and Cai together, let me know... Mx

Lovely stuff, Adam. But those figure thumbs would be even prettier if you add some curves into the flow of the pose.. Which is why I suggested those nasty charcoal the other day. It's unforgivable so you need to hit the weights and gestures instantly and that helps getting the idea better.
    See you soon, mate.

I like your sense of volume and dimensionality in your work. Especially on your robots, you convey really well the idea of them existing in a three-dimensional space. Your ability to visualize shapes in your mind is admirable.

waw , that gladiator is awesome , though , this armor , don't give the impression of metal , or rough cold material , more like , mushy or plastic , ( i'm talking about material quality) . Cheers

    hi mate, some good updates!!

For your anatomical gestures, i think you gotta loosen up that linework some more, get more curves in there. maybe try some gestures using the negative space around the form as your guideline only, forget about the details inside the form. looking forward to more stuff!

    shumizu - thanks

Attackcat - I use however much ref i think is necessary, varies greatly depending on the piece. Sometimes ill collect a folders worth and compile it on a psd, sometimes nothing. Thanks for dropping by.

    IMBass - thanks, i'll have a gander when i get a chance.

    Tokidokizenen - cheers

Molly - Actually its one of those solar powered head bobby things, found it in the studio. Its tempting but i just can't afford it atm. Thanks for the offer!

Chupacabra - thanks, I'll keep it mind. See you at life drawing!

Rasta-art - thanks, glad you like it

    smarty -thanks

Dirty C - Thanks dude hows sega treating you? Yeah pretty much, I hardly go out at all any more. Not completely intentional though, moneys tight and days don't have enough hour in them and such. Glad its doing me some good.

    MacTire, maeshanne - thanks

Texahol - as is mr devin platts

HTML rulez d00d - cheers, they're all from posemaniacs. Give it a whirl.

MGLDyson - thanks, i get a bit obsessive about that stuff. Glad it carries across.

Giorge - yeah it could use some more work, I think i'd rather just move on to the next on to be honest.

Tom Garden - Thanks dude, I'll give it a try.

Just some sketches for the moment, developed a bit of a thing for skeleton warriors...

SWEET UPDATE! it all kinda reminds me of Golden Axe, have you played it? just picture bird muscle guy about double the size of the skeletons who look great by the way.
I'm curious though, how do you figure out the poses for your characters? do you do mini gestures of different ones and then pic your favorite? (my current method...)

I have looked thru the whole sketchbook and I liked virtually everything about it, I'll return for sure. Truly an inspiration overload, thanks!

When you draw digitally, do you use photos for reference or is it all imagination? When you make those black-and-white invironments and the add color and athmosphere (like that closet one, man I loved that one) do you draw over the black and white or... whats the method? Where did you learn it? Perhaps you could recommend an instructional vid or a book or something?

    Thanks!
