Hi, I was just trying to work from a photo on this, the one on the picture is my beloved girlfriend Linda.
I used like 3-4 custom brushes, document: 3000*2380:300dpi
what do you think? I haven't decided the background yet, any ideas?

I really like how the hair looks, you made sure to get all the different colors that she has in their hair. I also see in your painting that you wanted to make the necklace more obvious, because it doesn't really show in the photo.
As for the background. Hmm. Since there isn't much to work from in the photo, you'll kinda have to make one up, huh? Well, I guess my only idea for now would be something bright, like a lot of warm light. You did say she was your beloved, make her appear that way. Make her look like an angel glancing down with some brightness in the back which might bring out the highlights on her hair. It can look like clouds, wings, her shining beauty, whatever. hehe
Maybe you don't like the bright thing, I think it would help her stand out from the background, but if you want it kind of dark then I am not sure what to recommend. Maybe something abstract, or even a solid color might do the trick. Play around, you're bound to find something (or even a few things) you like. Maybe ask her what she would like?
hope i was at least mildly helpful. = )
