    Hey Penn!

It was really good chattin' with you the other day. Man, you've got some cool stuff going on here these days. That Vespa is really nice... I'd like to see a little more going on in the background to balance out the whole design, but the scooter itself is really rad.

Keep up the good work my friend.
    Your friend
    KC

Actually I take that back... about more going on in the background. I do think that the text should've been more integrated into the design though... That's just sort of nitpickey though.

Love the work youve been doing lately, man!

You can choose to use your powers for good... or you can use them for AWESOME!

great sp! you make me miss my hair. it'l been 2 years since i had to have mine lopped off for work.
It looked just like yours. In fact, you look a lot like me. Thats kind of creepy.

Gotta oil painting I've been working on (water soluble I'm lazy). I'm not too proud of it. but I guess a learned a ton of stuff on it, like not doing whole scenes with people right off the bat because it takes a buttload of time. If it were just buildings it would be way quicker. and I learned to, well tried, to paint wet on wet, at least toward the end. I finally figured out how to get the right amount of paint mixed, too, so i dont have to keep fudging w/the color. i think I skipt a step too. and I couldn't get the detail that I wanted. overall time spent on it was maybe 8-9 hours? probly more. then I did a mono print of some japanese girls eating w/ fuji in the bg. a "master" of karate and a caricature of me.

    crits really appreciated.

oh yeah sorry for the crap pictures

I see some seriously cool studies going on. I can see that look that life studying gives in your work.

One thing to think about; try to get those hatching lines for your shading to work for you. They can tell a lot about the form of the object if you try to angle them to follow the surface rather than just laying them in straight. Hope that made sense.

wow i wish i had your pencil and figure skills! i'm wasted on digital - no technique, no class i'm looking forward to being able to take less shifts at my current job to better pursue learning as you have, as opposed to stagnating at my current skill level. really love the moleskin work, your values are quite vivid

here's some stuff from the last week
lately I've been doing a lot more studies. hands, feet, gestures, bones, and animals. helping a lot. and trying to focus on the basics. I feel like my draftsmanship is horrible. did a quick landscape need to do another. then the last image took a couple hours. gotta keep drawing

    WO.o man! This is sweet!

    Your values studies are
paying off and I can see
    so much improvement in
    every image you post.

Try to keep things at a max
    level and don't let crappy
art ruin your day. Work through
it and don't give up one day
    of drawing for anything!

thanks a lot matt, I'm trying to keep pushing myself through things to the finish. and it's been good.

here's a quick paint tried to not use the colorpicker at all. forced me to think about every color and stroke a lot more, and about value too.
then the girl, was from the new flickr library, they have some cool images from the past. spent a good 3 hours on it so far. learning slowly about rendering form.

I love the haystacks painting! So simple - genius in its simplicity. Looks great. I can smell it just looking at it - and it's giving me hayfever. I need to get a puff of Nasonex now....
