....CATL sketchgroup BELONGS IN DA ZZOOOOOOO....
why not come out and draw like a FIEND with us???
Tenatively looking at doing the CATL sketchgroup Zoo on June 24; it's
a saturday...From what has been discussed thusfar here are some ideas
•----->It'd be nice to arrive just a little before gates open at 9:30a
to see more active animals and beat the heat a little. It's probably
going to be super freaking hot...plan on wearing sunscreen / shades
and maybe -- working on toned paper that won't be so harsh on your
•----->Probably after entering and deciding on a group meeting spot we
should give the entire park a quick once over and then spread out to
where we're going to spend our time drawing
•----->Planning on packing a lunch...just to be able to take a short
break for eating, then keep drawing for another hour or two. I know
they offer food inside the park but it will likely (from my memory of
what they had available last time i went) be fast food and might slow
down your drawing brain juices and then you turn into a gigantic
greasy french fry and get fed to a python...no gooda, ya know?
•----->Bring some water to drink...geez it's going to be sweltering
out there, you know you're gonna need it, silly.
•----->Of course all of us are going to want to draw different
stuff... to facilitate this maybe we'll just all meet back up at some
place in the park...Personally i'm all about some large apes monkeys
prosimians and reptiles...but would like to spend sometime with my
fellow leos if you cats pounce upon my drift.
•----->Backup plan in case of foul weather? errr... fernbank would
be nice, although the airport worked out in an awesome way last time
we needed a diversion – besides train fares its 'CHEAP AS FREE™' not
sure what kind of group rates we could try to get at the high museum
of art, but that'd be another good place to go in lieu of zoo action.
•----->after hanging out all day we should try to do something nice,
cool, relaxing... look at the work that we've done...have some
•-----> we'll have to have at least 15 people to get the group
discount ($13.99 instead of $17.99) there are some annoying details
that you can read about in the link ... I don't really think that's
going to be a problem, but with the lean summer months, it may pose
something of a challenge. sounds though like you have to pay in
advance though..."Reservations required at least one-week in advance
to receive the advance purchase rate. Full payment required online
with your reservation."
• Here's some general information from their website:
Grounds are open 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
adults (12+) $17.99
children (3-11) $12.00
College Student rate $13.99
parking is free.

Ta Daaaaa......I'm Back. I'll bet you all were going through Grack withdrawl. Well, don't worry I'll have some tasty new eye candy for you soon. I would also like to point out how incedibly jealous I am that you guys get to go to the zoo. The zoo is like a combination of ice cream, sleeping in, and cheesy kung-fu movies all swirled together with Godzilla sprinkles. That's almost too much awesome. Someone's gonna have to draw a rhino for me. AND a critter from the reptile house. You'll also have to make sure to chase the free-range peacocks.
I got yr rhino covered, grack! even if i have to smell it for an hour or more hehehe.
seriously... head study or the entire thing?
and btw it's good to hear from you friend! did you make your trip to receive awards and artistic commendations! there was a cute little snake that i shoo'ed off on my back porch and i thought about snaps. or was his name stamps?
geeez i'm ing up this thread bigtime... note to self: SHUTUP

Talked it over with the wifey, and she's cool with us taking over the homestead the night of this Sunday, June 4th.
Sound off on who will be able to make it that day, and any time constraints. I have the whole day open, but i suppose something after noon would be best, since gug and Analog both strike me as people who would squeal like stepped on mice at the idea of doing anything which exposes them to the morning sun.
That black dot on my back porch is a cluster of spent beer bottles I'd unwittingly left out there. Okay, not really, but it sounds a lot better than, "WTF is that speck on my porch?".
I figure we'll plan on the "Worst Sci-Fi Movies Ever" theme for background noise. WTF is that? If it could be featured on MST 3000, then it's probably okay, just make sure that if my 5 year old wanders in to watch, it doesn't have any Exploding Asses™ in it.
Wes: "The Doll" will be there. In fact, thank you for providing a 3/4 down view of your locale...I tend to travel at a 45-degree angle, so it'll make picking your home out among the other similarly "roofed" homes especially easy...
After 2pm is fine by me as well. I have to pick up a rather large and cumbersome batch of foam from the Homeopathic Depot in the AM and I am already having visions of...how the French say: trouble...
I'll be more than happy to pick up some form of edible delights to bring with me for the crew: anyone have any food allergies I should be aware of? I promise not to put them in my Lil' Book of Tid Bits for Future Obliterations and use them against you at a later date...
Oh, that sounds tempting...Im going to have to bust my ass friday and saturday to get my other shit done, but it will be worth it, or I could be smart and just hang with you guys and do my work there...haha...laptops are awesome....enough jammering....I AM IN
Remember everyone, he lives in the white house with the gray roof.

BTW, you may have noticed that i have not yet posted my stuff from monday, well, my scanner is on the blink, so I will just post the stuff later once i work my computer magic a.k.a. a hammer
