Hey rigglegiggles just wanted to holler at my homes.

I put up some new stuff in my sketchthread, and I'm finishing up some of the work I did from the other night.

I was talking to Thomas after looking through your sketchbook and we decided that we don't have any fun in our own. Some of the stuff he did later that night was pretty awesomes.

Anyways, here's a new list of names for you.
    Rugglemanicure
    Raflemaniacal
    GiggleMoons.

Personally, I'm a fan of GiggleMoons.

Hey Monet, is Dr, Sketchy's still going on on the 14th? The blog says something about a problem with IceHouse :-(

I'm here! But no one else posts more than every two weeks :-( So I'm guessing we're not having Dr. Sketchy's tomorrow.

Man, long time since I dropped in. I've been working on websites 60+ hours a week since last August. My Wacom is gathering a disturbing amount of dust. Anyway, I wanted to drop this nugget on everybody, since it's both Star Wars and Atlanta art related:

    http://scifiwire.com/2009/04/hyper-r...-very-cool.php

A local atlanta artist did some SW stuff and is selling off prints of it. Anyone ever heard of this guy?

Yeah Dr Sketchy's got cancelled because Icehouse lost it's liquor license. Dunno when the next one will commence or if I'll be the model or not.

MINT Windows show was neat, my piece apparently sold.

I just got thrown into a show last minute that is happening this Saturday at Blue Tower gallery (http://www.bluetowergallery.com/). They had an artist drop out, so I'm brining some old nude paintings to show. One of my dancer friends is being painted as a performance art thing too. Sounds like an interesting art-and-performance night.

    What's been going on folks?

Hope everyone's doing alright. I take it that we don't meet regularly on Tuesdays anymore but I was just dropping by to chime in that my excuse for not showing up i.e. school, has expired as the spring semester is over and I won't be taking any summer classes. I hope sooner or later there'll be a meet-up, man I miss those...

hello friends, i'm sorry i've been scarce.

have had a series of bad circumstances afoot, but the struggle continues and change is a good thing in a lot of ways. if anyone would like to get together to hang out and do some drawing i've got a bit of free time to do so in. drawing in pencil these days...crazy huh? getting together would need to be somewhere relatively near a train station or bus stop if possible.

and i really miss seeing and drawing with yall... not sure when dr. sketchy's is happening again but i'ma try and go to it.

    hugs

Nice to hear from you guggz. I'm thinking about the next Dr. Sketchy's myself. I'm nearing the end of my 4-month website project for the wife's company, so I might find myself soon with only one job to schedule around. What's the most recent point-of-contact for Dr. Sketchy here in town?

I too would like to know when the next Dr. Sketchy's is :-( Wish they would take it back to the Vortex if Ice House won't work out.

On another note, I am once again trying to move to Atlanta from Duluth, but trying to find something somewhat safe and cheap. Preferably someplace I can paint and not die from the fumes :-) Anyone know of anything close to 85 that is around or less than $1000 for a two bedroom or something that is around or less than $700 for a single? Any affordable places where artists live?

Reply With Quote Reply With Quote

  22. eloth anything i saw for that price range ( as we are attempting to move our selves) you would have to sign a 1 year lease to get anything closed to that range.

also i just picked up the new j.chan tut.
    its worth it!
it comes with a raw file too so if you want to see how fast( or steady ) the professionals work out in Cali i would highly recommend dropping the 15 dollars.

hope every one is doing well
Dre and I miss you guys( and girls)

    To Anyone Who is Interested

I just discovered a very cool comic book artist interview site called SiDEBAR. To anyone who is not interested in comicbook art, Marko Djurdjevic and Jason Manley are on there too! Real good site to listen to while in the office or at home doing some art :-)

Thank Marc Holmes! He posts alot of amazing stuff on his twitter feed. That's right, twitter can be used for good! Hmm, maybe CATL should start one. Is that too mainstream for us?

I accidentally deleted everyone's phone numbers from my cell... if you don't mind, please PM or email me your contact info. Any physical addresses received as well will be rewarded with generous bounty of postcards and other such fun, cool stuff. the postcard offer is open to everyone, even the above named folks.

  27. hey folks... i'm not sure who still checks this thread, but i wanted to throw up a (double)post about a plan to go to (see) art mondays at apache cafe next monday, 22nd of June. if i have yr phone number, i'll give you a call about this. It is $3 to get in, $5 for photographers. (figures based on last time i was there...may be different now) The best part is you can start on a figurative composition, snap a photo of your view, and then finish up your study later. And sometimes they have really good DJs too. other times, not so much...

also there's something in the works for july, but more info on that as i figure out dates and stuff. Natural light is going to be involved though....

Also, make sure you get there early. Once parking on the street runs out, you have to pay $5 to park in the lot next door. Either that or hike it from Arbys or something. Also, the price has gone up to $4 for general and is still $5 for photography. It's definitely worth the price of $4. Drawing starts around 7pm and they have an artist talk around 8:30 for the gallery. Drawing resumes after that and I believe it goes on until 11pm. You can buy beer and food too :-) I'm in. Need some figure drawing!

  29. There's plentiful parking in the georgia tech area along spring and along west peachtree before you get to arby's. I know that the arby's is monitored for cars at some points, but i guess monday night probably isn't a premium. Hell, have a roast beast sandwich, or give it to a homeless person or something. This area definitely gets rather scary at night though, it's probably worth the $5 to park next door for your peace of mind.

Found a show this Saturday (July 11) I bet a lot of you would love
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...53365&page=122

I probably can't go--the bellydancers are bringing down the house at Red Light Cafe on Saturday and that's not to be missed.

Heading to Apache with guggs tonight, this might be a good option for intown folks who want to meet up weekly again.
