Making Of The Orc Horde updated

    hello all

IM posting a sculpture that the that evolved over time with the distinct goal of learning the notion of carving. this was started some time ago and worked on on the side gradually taking on different looks at time went by. I started with a set of head for several of these. And they have all evolved into busts there are a total of six of them and this is the first one. I will be posting them over time and with all the progress shot I can find of them.

These are the initial stages. Then over time I will post the other orcs in the set. More to come....

    thanks sym7

here were a few heads that i intially started just really trying play with the idea ,that i would make a set of these for practice and to learn how to manipulate the wax. being that these are done off the cuff there was no direction to them at the time but you can see a bit what i was thinking . these head were scraped later for the ohers that will came later .

here is the head above. in a stage where i just cut away the jaw repositioned it, and fused it back on, and started to just shape forms

the close up head shots , at the beginning of this post ,were a mid stage. adding and taking away with the wax

Nice sculptures, but I was wondering... can they be painted over or are you going to leave 'em like that ?
Reminds me of Warhammer, hence the painting question

The detail in these orcs is intense. It's amazing how small they are and still have every micriscopic detail thought of. I can't wait to see the painted versions next to the uncolored. I hope that the color is not overdone because there is so much involved in the modeling that the do not need too much added depth in the paint color. The modeling is amazing and I want to see it not lose it under paint. good work boss you rock.
