    Sketchbook Support Group

I'm currently looking for a SSG but have no clue where to find one. So if there is a forum or subforum please point me in that direction. If anyone is interested We could start our own. MY suggestion on the a name for our collective would be Gilded Rooster, or just Gilded. The name would be in honor of my yet to be born Studio.

Drop me a line if you are interested.

It would be nice to have one of those wandering sketchbooks that doesn't disappear. Anyone want to be part of another? I would be willing to get it started, even knowing the fate that these always seem to succumb to.

SSG#3 is still pretty active... I'm just not. Planning to change that... someday. I know Dan, Pixeldragoon and Profil are though - I'm sure they, and me included will gladly post in your sketchbook.

I remember the one that I was trying to help start began in California and after el coro sketched I think it fell off the face of the planet, someone sold the el coro sketch and retired. I don't recall if it made it to Washington, even.

I'm not sure, but I think you're mistaking the Travelling Sketchbook for the Sketchbook Support Group. One is a group activity, the other a group that supports encourage each other to sketch.

Sorry, sort of flu medicine induced musing, I was thinking much slower than I was typing, maybe it is nap time. I was thinking of how cool the wandering sketchbook could be, and I should have started a separate thread for that instead of splashing my thoughts here. Maybe my subconcious was thinking of thread convservation, but I doubt it.

Ok so if SSG #3 could take a few more people then thats cool I would love to join in. If not and if there is enough interest we could start SSG Gilded or what ever number comes next. #6?

sounds like an interesting idea, but i dont exactly understand how a sketch group works online. i guess its all about the support and we all post on one thread?

I would like to post the same thread as five or six other people Of course it would mean that we would have to limit our postings to the better sketches and such as not to flood it with endless half assed anatomy studies like we're almost all guilt of postin (Me included) Makes it easyer to comment on other peoples stuff...

    So, who's game?

Here's the original thread, Kitty. It's basically a group that goes to each of its member's books and supports them with comments, along with keeping up a steady flow in their own books. Seraph hasn't posted since May, so it's up to folks to get themselves together.

    Pretty cool idea.

Ok so Danomight and I are both interested in this thing. I would like to see a minimum of one crit to each members thread per week, and one sketch per week to your own book in the sketchbook section. I know that many of us have tight schedules.

Thaks Dogfood for clearing that up. I couldn't find the original post.

I am very interested in this idea, and I think I could handle what time commitment there is.

Ok are any of the old Groups looking for new members. I sent a PM to one of the guys from SSG #3. It looks like we have a lot of interested people. I'll wait till monday and then I'll start one with Danomight, Wertle, Snowsfal, Interceptor, redFIVE, and myself. But I would like first to try and keep the old groups going.

I like the joint sketchbook thread idea. Maybe we could highlight some of the better sketches in one thread. I'm not sure what the etiquette on reposting on a second thread would be. I would say post the best sketch of the week and post it on something like that. Kittywolf13, talmir, are you guys up for this, anyone else? We would keep the old tread and have no comitment to post to eachothers thread but once a week we would post to the joint thread and crit each others work in that post.

Both ideas are good but I'm not sure which one would work the best. Is there enough interest for the two?

I like the joint thread idea, less jumping around to crit stuff, but both ideas sound good to me. Anyone else?

Cool to see so many people interested!

I'm not as fond of the joint thread idea, because I know I personally would be more apt to just post in that thread and abandon my sketchbook altogether. Also, because I'm in a state where I need help on my boring work-studies.

On the other hand, it would be nice to have some kind of unified place to, if anything, keep track of who is in the group. I would prod at the idea of combining the two, but maybe that would be getting too complicated?

Maybe we can do something like, you keep posting your studies in your own sketchbook, and then you post your better stuff in the group thread, or maybe we can have a theme for the thread or something. I dunno.

    Any other suggestions?

Theres now a sticky on top of the sketchbooks section called "SSG Digest" Where its like Danomight suggested.. you post your best stuff there for more crits than you get in your regular sketchbook. A link to it is in my sig.
