1 and 2 are deffontly the best here, my fav is number 2, You have picked out somthing very nice in somthing very simple i like the colur and the placment. The escape one, well i think that you may need to take it again, its over exposed and blured, I think it benifits from colour as well, All in all a nice update thanks for sharing

I have to agree with samsite, 1 and 2 arethe best, 4 is waaaaay overexposed and needs re-taking. Into the storm looks really noisy up the top, is that fixable? (note: may be compression issues). Same goes for fabric 1, it is pixellated around the diffused sunlit area. Fabric II I like mostly because of the corellation between the two towers and the fact that it's number II, as a photo it doesn't do much for me I must admit.

I look forward to some less minimalist stuff from you, I'm not really a fan of minimalism in general, and while you have produced some good works that even I, the hater (well disliker), can appreciate (like ribs) I'm hapy about the step away. That said, please visit it again, as you've got a good eye for it.

[sorry about the rant, it's bed time for me so I'm on my way ^_^]

I guess this is just a personal difference as I prefer the second version, but hey, that's me.

dear gabriel, sorry for replying so late, been quite busy. wonderful new stuff, great to see you get such a variety of subjects in your photos! "let there be neon" is a great shot - love the textures and the colors. sorry to sound like a broken record on the boards here, but having something not horizontal in a photo just bugs me every time...
in the "touch of red" serie i like the no.2 best - it's a shame it's not as crisp as the no.3, but i like the colors better - the blue and red compliment each other really well.
i like overexposed stuff, too - especially when it's in black and white. so i prefer the first version of "escape", but maybe it's a little too much there.
anyway, like your stuff as always, thanks for sharing, hope, you're fine. hugs

    okay lets start:

ambushed: I hope you know that this photo is awesome! You can be lucky that you captured this moment... terrific.

rotten: Very cool, no question. What a pity that there are no clouds in the background. That would make the pic more interesting. (Now the half of the picture is just boring white. )

back in the day: Well nice portrait but I somehow don't like the crop... You cut the right side of him a liddl... (I would zoom his head, or capture the whole corpus)

    kids these days:
I don't like this portrait. Blurry and a bad crop.

left behind: left-bottom corner a little bit distracting. otherwise a very nice photo!

lonely: Good picture but I don't see the subject "lonely" in there. (If you want to show loneliness you need to show more of the environment around the woman... I mean now it seems to me that there are people around her but not in the photo)

rebel without a job: Nice self-portrait. But you know, a little bit out of focus

Lines: cool dude! But I would place the title "lines" in the perfect focus of the image. Now it is only distracting from the images essence.

    twins: no crits. very good!

let there be neons: minimalistic good

fabric shots: Pretty nice. The second one is tilted. (I would fix that)

into the storm: I don't see a storm here. (Maybe because I am used to another defination of storm )

touch of red: not my case...

All in all wonderful photos! Keep that on and show us more

Yes, crits from 2 of my favorite photographers arround!

Stine- Thank you so very much. Yes, i know, i have a bad habbit of tilting. Lately I've been shooting with drgutman's 30d and given the weight+grip i sometimes get amaizing;y bad angles

Norwin- Thanks so very much for takong the time and giving a crit for each photo. Deffinitelly some good stuff to know. Will keep everything in mind. Dont be a stranger.

Okay. New stuff. Now that the minimalism and abstract series is over I'm trying to do some real street photography.

    Tell me what you think!

Not brilliant, I know, but bare with me, I'm just getting started.

    Cheers!

    Rusted and sunset are brilliant

blonde meets dark is really sweet, I was trying to take a pic similar to this earlier today but the people noticed me and got angry so I had to run.

    Schools out rocks out!

I much prefer this set, it really works.

hey gabriel! man, that's an awesome bunch of photos! i really enjoyed "reach out", very nice rnage of colors. the cloud/plane thingy (sorry, forgot how it's called) is slightly distracting, but that's nothing you could influence, so it's just a minor thing. i like the diagonals, the clear sense of perspective in it, very cool shot.

"rusted" is probably my favourite shot of this post - wonderful find, i think. the colors (especially the blue-greyish background with the yellow in it) is fantastic and the dof is just right. wonderful photo, so let me return the "shiver" compliment here.

"guy smoking" is a nice shot (good dof) and i like that he's looking into the camera - only thing that bugs me here is the caption underneath it - i think when there's no "gag" in the title or whatever meaning, then maybe get rid of it?! just my personal opinion though...

the "moustache" guy looks funny, but the photo isn't as good as the others, sorry. but it's fun to see people like that.

"cardump(ed)" is another cool find is it an old mercedes? i'm definetely not a car expert... the colors seem a little harsh to me, but i like the composition. it's always tough to frame something big like a car interesting and get everything on the picture without showing it all.

"school's out" and "blonde meets dark" aren't that appealing to me, but i guess that's just personal preference (especially when i read the other comments...).

"romanian gothic" on the other hand comes in third place, right behind "rusted" and "sunset" - love the athmosphere, colors are great and the composition is interesting - maybe crop the lower part slightly?!

and last, but definetely not least, "sunset": wonderful shot, second place (but veeeery close to "rusted") - and just because it's tilted slightly. yup, i know, i'm really picky when it comes to horizontal lines, sorry. love that you cropped exactly where the telefon-cable crosses and keep the absolutely right amount of empty space to the right. lovely photo!

gotta run, i'm always late these days...
hope to see more soon! cheers,

    stine

Hey, Gabe, so now you'r shooting street, good! One thing I will say is that when shooting people try to get in closer. Let's see your reflection in their glasses. I want to see more though.

The land scapes are the splended, do more of those for me!

Can't see any technical issues in any of your pieces. I really dig the "ambushed" photo.

Gab! When Romania joins the EU can you come over and do my plumbing cheap?

Everything that I'd need to say about your photos has been said; so I'll just say I enjoy looking at them, and I do like Touch of Red II.

    Hello Gab!

    Hey Le Gab!
I feel very inspired when viewing your photos - most of them are truly amazing! I don't know why, but I especially like "back in the day". there is just something inexplicable about it that I like. Can I ask which lens it was shot with?
Ambush, Twins and Sunset are some of my favorites too. I admire how you manage to get that kind of mood into not only them, but your photos in general.

You couldn't give me any tips of how to make my photos look like "twins" does? I asume it is done in photoshop, but correct me if I'm all wrong

    Hey!

    Thanks all for reply

Mike- I'll try but I'm really enjoying the non intrusive power of Drgutman's 70-200mm lenses.

Halifax- Thx man, will post some more as soon as I get the right ones.

Rhynome- I wont, I'm not good at plumbing but i do promise I'll get some friends and pay you a visit and teach you a thing or 2 about photography .

Apfe- Yo, thx man. The Twins photo doesn't involve much processing. It's just playin with saturation an white ballance values in a RAW file. However, I'm thinking of doing a tutorial on how to use color processing to your advantage. Stay tunned

the colors, contrast, sharpness and the overall feel of "sunset" is really well done - would like to know, how to make my photos look like that

    Untill all the clouds clear

I'm ... in a certain mood. A gloomy and cloudy mood. ... Hehehe, a mod with a mood

In the name's of these photos (which are not great, btw) I've hidden some lyrics of a song very dear to me. Who ever can tell me what song this is
and what band plays gets a prize from me. And the the prize is: you get to challenge me.

Give me a subject to shoot and then choose one photo out of the bnch. Do what ever you want with it. I'll print it and sent is to you, who ever you may be.

    So... who's in?

    Here are the photos:

Let the lamb go to the slaughter.

Lamb - Till the clouds clear
And the challenge.. hmm. I will have to think about it.

    And some crits:

'Rusted', great shot. I know the pipe is tilted by the perspective, but I would have wanted it straight. Maybe from a lower angle if the bg wouldnt become to busy.
'Guy smoking' and 'Moustache', these are good aswell. 'Moustache' feels somewhat soft.
'Blonde meets dark', feels soft too, maybe put up the ISO a step and change some noise for sharpness.
I like what you have done with the colors of 'Car dumped' and 'Roman Gothic'. 'Roman Gothic' is very nice, I cant think of any crits there, just a great shot.
'Sunset', has to be my favourite of the set. The wear on the phone and the colors and contrast, just awesome.

I have to say I enjoy this set much more than your experimental minimalism and that.

great shots, gabriel! you surely have a very dramatic sky in bucharest!

"words get..." is my favourite - very nice shot and the caption is just great - fits the media/antenna- motif perfectly. i really like the idea of shooting photos for every line (or some lines) of a song/poem. i guess, i'll try that myself one day. thanks for the inspiration boost, mood-mod!

WOW! I've just checked out all your stuff - really good, im very impressed. You've listened to crits, and pushed the boundries of things you're comfortable with, and as a result have come up with some superb shots. I won't crit any of the previous stuff as everything I will say has probobly already been said. But I will wait eagerly for new shots and give my honest opinion.

Your shots really are fantastic. Great work

    Thank you so very much.

Here is a littel game / photoshoot I had today with Bogdan, a friend at the office and drgutman, who you all know by now.
I know some of these may seem overexposed to some, but this is a personal taste of mine.

    I SEE GOGGLED PPL!!!

And here is me, by drgutman, with them goggles on.

Gonna return with the whole story as soon as i get some spare time.

    Hope you like.

    Cheers!

First ones awesome with the reflection in the goggles. Second is not in focus. Third and fifth are pretty good too, but the first one is the best, looks like a video game character.
