heres the rest of the batch:

Wow, I'm very impressed with your figure work. The subtle use of color works so well, although I think you could have placed the red in that last one in a better place. lol. Good stuff, though. I'll be back.
-
-
omg youre like the best drawer ever. super good!!
-
-
madplanet - ya she was sitting on a red cloth and i love that color a little too much. its way too distracting, but then again the figure itself turned out pretty poopy so maybe its a good thing its distracting.
winjer - i got's to show off for the fans. You missed out a fun night. School can wait. Nells and I came up with a system to make the tarp our bitch.
weee - new batch from the SI Jazz session:

and an old one from July:

Very expressive lines and shapes.
Keep postin'.
Cheers

So glad to see you starting another sketchbook here. I gotta sit next to you one day at the SOI drawing session and watch you draw. You are so loose and expressive...but I won't go on. You know how I feel about your sketches..(i love em)
I got an Egon Schiele book for my birthday called Drawings and Watercolors. It's awesome..you would really appreciate it I think.
can't wait to see more mate
-
-
Damn good work man, I'm glad you started a book here bud. The confidence you have in the looseness of your painting style is evident... it was great to meet you bro, and hopefully it'll happen again soon.

Awesome stuff russian, keep this up and you should wind up running your own gallery!

ammish,,,,,

I am back from my summer place and really want to get some a' pleine air type shit,,, get back to me if the thing is still going,,,,,,I will be able to come a lot... keep on posting cuz this life drawing is great, like tony the tiger would say,,,,,,, one last thing,,,, are you attending any life drawing courses in the city???? if so where, I am going occasionally to the minerva durham studio and it is okay,, but if you know of some better stuff,, tip me off, guy,, okay bye

huzzah!!!
thanks to all: Diego, That fat kid
Scott: - Schiele is like a god to me. being compared to him is the greatest ego boost anyone can give me.
Cody: - thanks a lot man. hopefully i can fill this with other things besides watercolors.
Aviv: - yeah right.
codakromek: (tony? right?) - Subway Sketch Group happening every sunday. This Sunday will be even better. I'll be at the Pond early with my easel and oils. here is the INFO on the event.
October schedule will be a little weird. October 2dn i'm helping pack theSpectrum show at the SI. and October 16th i'll be down in florida (hopefully with some luck i'll be able to get the gallery i worked at to pick up these watercolors and sell them for ridiculous amounts to stupid rich people) but the rest of you are more than welcome to come out and draw without me. I never wanted this thing to be dependant on me.
as far as life drawing goes. Jazz Sessions every tuesday at the SI (128 E. 63rd St. and Lex.) and the 3rd thursday. $12 ($6 with student id) gets you 3 hours of drawing beautiful models amongst the greatest illustrations history has to offer and a great Jazz band every night. They also have a Bar where you can get wasted (for a price though)
-
-
you could sell your stuff here i think. You have to go to city hall or something and get htis certificate of authority or something for free and youre allowed to harass people on the street trying to sell them stuff. I have a friend at school who sux and makes like $200 a week doing that.
-
-
yeah, but that requires work on my part. besides, it does not compare to a gallery charging $500 for something that took me 10 minutes to do.
-
-
did this last night on OC (my comPOOter has too much shit on it to run PS) took just over an hour. I'll try to finish it up one of these night. then i'll put up the .wpe file.
-
-
Wow. Great use of color.
Can't wait to see more.
-
-
you dont know how much i love those watercolors. great stuff bro. we should oc sometime.
-
-
Van - thanks dude
Pat - you too, thanks for tha compliments. I'm totally down for some OC action, just have to find (make) the time.
and now for some update:
here are the watercolors from the SI thang on September 27th:

And last night's hackery.

these are getting better. are you paying more attention to the warm/cool alternation?
The newer ones seem to have more of a sense of form. Might just be because thats what im learning about though. Im gonna photoshop the shredder mask on that one i told you later. But im tired now
-
-
i never get tired of your life sketches...ever
i hope i can chill with you soon and some sketchin in the near future (being a daddy is tough!)
peace bro..talk to ya soon
-
-
That fat kid - thanks dude, Schille anywhere in the vicinity of my name is a huge ego boost.
Shiraj, Scott - thanks as well. Sunday was awesome. I don't know about you two but i was so inspired by Tiffany's work that i decided to totally jack her imagination and do a version of her CHARACTER. Hopefully she aproves. I kinda forgot to sleep and spent something like 2 hours on this on OC last night (now i pass out at work). it's sad.

Hey Commy, nice stuff. You really have to loosen up though...stop cramping up! Just kidding. I admire your ability to be so loose, as I am a bit of a coward in that regard. I just can't leave it alone until it's all tightened up.
I really dig the pregnant females, you really brought across the mass and weight effectively. You seem a bit more ambitious with color in OC somehow, maybe because it doesn't cost you any paint? lol
Cheers, and see you @ the SoI tonight.
-
-
nice stuff
I like the lifely feeling you know to bring into your works
-
-
I'm not bullshitting or saying this cause we know each other...I really believe you have some of the strongest life-drawings on this entire forum. It's rare to see so much information in such a loose, expressive style. I cannot say enough good things.
- Tiffany's character redo is looking sweet! Yeah..she rocks, and it's only a matter of time I think with her...she's gonna do well.
I picked up this David Mack Kabuki comic yesterday...it's just a collection of watercolors and shit. He does some stuff in there, that I really think I could see you producing fo your illustrations. Especially now that you are doing these watercolors from life (preggo looks awesome by the way) -
If everything goes well...I plan on coming the 23rd...I'll bring it if ya like.
peace bro
-
-
whats on the 23rd? Also you need to tighten up arkady. Im sick of this loose crap. You need to do some bargue drawings and copies of plaster casts. Thats real art. Not this hippie tree hugging crap.

sweet life drawings. The line and watercolor is great. try using a colored pen for the outline or a colored pencil. Its fun. To bad your scanner or camera werent better. Maybe try fixing the contrast in photoshop before you post.
-
-
nice oc guy, the last batch of figures is looking sweet as well. Some in my favsfolder.
-
-
Gratzie all.
this new batch from tonight i fiddled with the levels a bit. But yeah, my camera is on its last leg, and my scanner is not much better.
Tonight's (tried to show off for Tony Bennett, succeeded just on the last one):

these watercolors look great. it reminds me of charles reid's watercolor book on figures. it makes me want to do more traditional painting.
