Hey realy beautifful stuff here. Though i feel the earlyer quick studies on the first pages feel realy off balance to me, like its only 1/4 there. The 1/4 looks beautifull, but the lack of deffinition between the light side of the figure and the background just kinda kills it for me personally. I realy love the finished pieces, and the later sketches, where some deffinition was made between figure and background.

Always like seeing beautifull watercolor because im so affraid of using it myself.

Sartell - thanks. The show runs from December 2nd to January. If you're home for the holidays you're more thanwelcome to come down to check it out.

Fianlly made it up to Haven Arts this week. but i was too tired to do anything decent. figured i'd try a few experiments.

the model is really not fat at all, I don't know waht happend here

this was a 30 minute pose where the model was free to do wahtever she wanted and to change up the pose whenever without warning.

Am I the only one who heard PPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLHGGGGGGT when they saw the last one?

    This one is bootyfull.

Next time you have one of those exclusive party things, at least tell me so I can be actively jealous while you are doing it.

I wish I lived up north again... I wish I lived closer to any group of people from Conceptart =(

    Rob - thankee

Margie - thanks. when are you gonna put some of your work up, Margie? For anyone who doesn't know, Margie is one talented girl. And it's your duty to harass her until she puts some of her work up.

Justin - yeah, that last one looks like she had a little accident. Everyone made fun of me for it. I told them to just wait and see. I'm selling that piece to some freak Japanese businessman who's into that sort of thing for $1,000,000.00 and not a penny less. and that "bootyful" pic is a dude.

    Third Thursday 10.19.06.
Jeff Fisher let me try this really cool watercolor pencil (i have to figure out what it is and get myself a truckload of them). it's unlike any i've ever tried. glides on like a grease pencil but bleeds.

    and 10.24.06:

    Jokisalo - someday it'll happen.

Wow, every one of these new jams is a winner. Love to see the BG incorporated in this one. And the first two from 10.24 are really successful. Great work!

Jokisalo - It'll happen eventually. A friend of mine is publishing a book this spring. I'll let him be the guinea pig and see how he does it and then i'll start working towards one. (assuming the cost of printing is not too bad) the best deal i found so far on printing is in China but would cost me at least $10k at minimum. sadly i can't afford that at the moment

Tiff, Andy, tensai, asoir, and Kliment - thank you guys and gal.

Sunday I went out to Long Island to draw at the Drawing Studio, firstly as a way of avoiding work on Round 3 of the Thunderdome, and secondly as a way to get outside of my routine in hopes of it helping me with said Thunderdome piece. 6 hours of drawing and experimenting didn't seem like it yielded any worthwhile results, but it really made a difference on Monday when i went back to work on my TD entry. And the crit after the session was great too. No one pulled any punches. Just the way i like it.

the good foot on this one was done by Jeff Fisher

This one i did with my opposite hand.

this one i had to start at the farthest point away from me on the body. Basically i had to look through the figure and draw the part turned away from me first.

this one is watercolor on top of rubber cement which acts as a resist. this was wierd to work with but in the end didn't turn out too bad.

and some drawings from a Schiele book.

This one is solid gold and I'm not talking solid 70's gold either. I like how you put everything up and not just you're best sketches. Thanks for the crit and stopping by my sketchbook. That last supper pic was hilarious.

    Keep it up dude!

    j a k e, bhanu, motives - thankee

rich - i like to see everything from people not just the polished stuff. the only ones i don't put up are the ones that would take way too much of my time to prepare.

so i had a shitty setback last week. My show at Ironworks (which was supposed to open on December 2nd) was canceled. Ironworks closed shop due to extended problems with their landlord. Sucks too because i had 1000 invitations printed and was about to start sending them out. If anyone wants one send me postage together with your address ($.23 in the US).

anyways, SoI is back from a two week vacation.

    11.14.06
this batch i was really tired that day and couldn't focus.

    11.16.06
this Third Thursday session was really hectic. it was an extra special Birthday Party for House Manager (and my personal alcoholism enabler) Michael Sysyn. But among all the commotion and underlying tension in the room i was still able to get some decent work done.

    5 min.

    10 min.

    20 min.

Really nice, recently. Extremely sensuous, curvaceous forms. Really solid style. If you can (I don't know what your drawing set up is) try for greater drama in lighting and color (some more extreme cools). I look forward to developing as you have in watercolor.
