Arrow An idea about thread ratings...

    Hi,

I've remarked, on my own threads, and on threads of other artists ( Fellah, Manley...), that some members lower the rating of these threads without leaving any comments.

Of course everybody has the right to give 4 stars to a thread who had 5 before, but to me, the problem comes from the lack of explanation : is it because of technique, or taste etc ?. Here we touch the limit of the actual thread rating.

So I wonder if it would be technically possible to allow people to vote only when they reply.

It would be cool and very useful to get it fixed, because CA.org is the probably the best forum to get opinions on his work.

    What do you think ?

IF you believe that star rating is a problem then that is not going to solve anything. If I can give 5 stars to a thread with a simple "Awesome!" I'm entitled to give 2 writing just "Boring".

The real problem is the lack of explanation, caused by the fact that it's easier and faster to give a note than write a constructive comment. If CA is a place to improve, it is a problem.

By the way, "boring" is a lazy explanation, but it remains more than nothing.

Comments like "That's a real piece o' shit, So&So!" and "Cool!" might be right on, but they really don't do anything constructive for the average submitter.

A good number of the people here are pros, and think the first comment above might be understood (I'd understand it...) and acted on BY THEM in a productive way, but a school kid popping a piece up for support is just gonna run and hide. I think it's worth the little time we spend two-finger typing to at least say SOMETHING constructive and helpful and not to much to ask...
