I heard a quote today, "Seeing is forgetting the name of what you see." In such a way, forget what you look like and find out what you look like.

Great improvement though, it's exciting to see such work and progress.

    Doing some Zbrushing... WIP:

Pheep: One of the hardest elements of any drawing i do is trying not to see it as a symbol, but rather a bunch of lines and shades. I'll get there eventually!
otherside: Yeah, my major flaw is petting the lines. Makes everything very messy! I'm trying to keep it in check, but it gets away from me.
thegreypencil: Sweet idea. I'll do that next session!
Dile: Thanks for the support Dile. Glad to know i'm getting somewhere!
    loizze: Thanks for popping by!

Good stuff Erilaz! The digital paintings are looking great for sure.

Your zbrush hand is looking sharp, my only crit so far would be the thumbnail would not be pointing upwards that much. It normally faces away at about 45 degrees if not more directly away from the hand.

You got some good stuff going on here, can't wait to see more.

Hey Sir! You've been busy while I've been slacking.
I love the sketchbook entries from the 23rd. They are looking more loose and confident. Very nice.

I'd say you're getting used to it. I've been wanting to get into modelling myself, how long you been at it?

That shading practice...What was that done with? It has an interestiong look.

Your heads are improving. That one in the upper right(guy with toque on). I like how you are drawing the shoulders as well though I'd like to see it more consistently done. It's something I have to work on myself.

great you're fdoing heads, the expression is co,ming through with the lines now...the word is HEAD STRUCTURE! go draw some skulls, and visualize the skul in block forms. Its important to be able to capture the expressiona nd yu're doign a commendable job but I think you need to keep in mind the forms of each individual and capture that in the gesture as well!

otherdside: hmm it looks liek a 3d shader..or soem kick ass airbrush work..hmm tell us ERI!

Hey there. That last value/light study looks pretty good, although one thing that I noticed is it's hard to imagine there being anything on the other side of the sphere, it looks a bit like a sticker. Otherwise it looks good, and maybe it's just me, but something dosen't look right about it. keep it up.

Hey there Erilaz! : ) thanks for letting me be a part of the supreme ISSG! : D looks like a pretty nice group to say the least, and I'm gonna do my best to get to your sketchbook when you update and pound you with my hardcore opinion. : P Don't worry tho, I'm pretty layed back. XP

nice sketchbook! I see alot of improvement from some of your first posts for sure. The Z brush hand looks really nice, I saw some Z brush tut's and it looks like Z brush can make some killer bump maps. I used maya a *long* while back, but gave it up to 2d stuff. *shrugs* anywho, I'm liking the faces, but I'm kinda trying to figure out what's more your style and what's not.

just try to keep the face's symmetrical on both sides, unless your going for a two-face kinda character. for example, the top left girl on your last sketch post. It's not bad fer sure tho, just hit the proportions like there calling your mom names. : P

    keep it up m8! I'll be Bock! : O

otherside: The shading was just done in photoshop with a fade brush and a scatter smudge. Nothing all that special.
thegreypencil: Capturing those guys is a pain... they keep moving!
Sepulverture: They probably would look better with a shadow, but I see what you mean. I'll try to fill them out more in my next studies.
    Halos Chain: Hey, welcome aboard!
crazy3dman: Great rendition mate, a good reinterpretation!

Wow! Nice environment! It reminds me of some areas in Wisconsin I've been to. I see a face in the cliff.

The environment looks nice! A bit blurry but nice!
I think the heads are improved a lot since the beginning, watch those eyes though! I think you draw the eyes too high on the face often. Remember that the eyes are in the middle of the head, and stick to that.
There are other things you can remember too (and probably have heard of a lot from others), like the distance between two eyes is an eye and from the hairline to the eyebrows equals distance from eyebrows to nose, equals distance from nose to chin.
Try to not only do quicker sketches, but work a bit more the ones you like. Try some more shading for instance
    Keep it up!

    love,
    Marleen

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys... I've been a bit slack recently and under the weather.
I'm trying to pay attention to what i'm doing, but every time I leave it for a while I feel I get back to square 1. Really must focus and get back to basics.

Here's an attempt at that... going back to basic bridgman, trying to get gestural again.

    Hey Martin

Keep up the good work man, those digital studies are nice!

keep doing those gestures studies too, that's a great exercice.

The "crappy lunch environment", well, you should try to think more about light, volumes and values, because it looks really flat. maybe you should do those in black and white for now, and assign some specific values to the surfaces facing different directions. Here's a little explanation : http://mv.cgcommunity.com/images/values1.jpg

    hope it helps!

Hey there, man! These last rounds of studies you've done are looking great, keep at 'er dude! The glass and bottle look really good, edges considered. Considering that your recent studies have been particularly good, you oughtta ask yourself "what scares me right now?" and just go at it headlong.

I'm so full of motivation and energy after the Montreal Workshop, it's coming out of my pores like some strange sweat-based inspiration monster. So many wonderful people, I thank you all.

Here's a couple I did at the workshop. I vow to become less sucky after seeing what people could do there.

These ones are from the sketchgroup yesterday with bumskee and speculart:

Hey, thanks. Great to see you crazy3dman!

Since i'm still on inspiration mode, i've been doing some value studies of my photos during montreal. Here's dirty_c dancing at "fune fune".

Sorry mate, it was a good pose to work from!
