YO SHYAM

nice update. The expression is natural and relaxed - very very good. Im not sure what you were going for in terms of color but it doesn't quite look like natural skin tone. I like the implemented green though.

Tis is the first time ive posted on your sketchbook i think and imust say your hands are excellent. the knuckles are reallly defined. good stuffff

i like your animal drawings too.

Hey, Shyam, it's a great similarity and very nice expression of his face. Sweet, a bit sad. I like many things in this portrait: hair, surprising combination of purple, orange, yellow and pink for the skin tone. And it looks very warm. The eyes, a very nice emotion. BG, slightly lighter than the main colors. And these wonderful dots. They look cheerful. It's really beautiful piece. There is some slight slanting, cheeks end up being at different angles, but it doesn't spoil anything, makes it even more personal.

You know I really want to see these 125+ sketches you made for CGTALK Sketchathon . May I have the link, I'm so ignorant. Thank you so much

Wow, the portrait of fatty looks awesome, captured the expression quite well. The softpastel look works, too.

Ah, you updated. That manipulation with rock carving is really cool, I can't wait to see the updates!
About The Fat Kid's portrait, it looks good, and in that typical Shyamshriram-style. It looks like the face is slightly sliding to the right from the nose and down, but I guess you can see that. Anyway, I like your technique, as always.

I was just over in that fat kid's thread and when I read that you did his portrait, I had to check it out. Very nice, you captured everything in his likeness.

And I think that I said it before and I'll say it again, you draw the best hand studies that I've ever seen. Always a treat.
Have a great New Year.

Beautiful hands as usual, great structure.
The referenced drawings look good, too. The gesture and motion could be improved though, by working on using less lines. By keeping your brush/pencil strokes flowing, you keep the motion flowing, too, The sumo wrestlers for example look best because of the simplicity and play with line value. In contrast some of the tennis ones dont flow as well as a whole, because the linework stutters.
Just something to keep in mind.

very nice lately! you're improving with your hands- make sure to keep the length of the fingers accurate and sound with proportion. i've noticed that in some of the studies from a few pages back, the fingers are much too long. but you're improving on that.
i don't know if you've tried any non-ref drawing, but i think you'd be good at it because of your simple, yet effective, construction method. keep it up, as always.

Hello, Shyam! Thank you so much for the link to your sketches on CGTALK Sketchathon. I looked and looked and your and other people wonderful motion studies and got so excited. I want to do this too. That's my most admirable stuff, figure in motion. and I just was so amazed to see those caught on paper running, flying, falling from above, dancing, catching a ball, hoping, bending. And for such a short time. I felt so great being there. Sometimes I felt a pleasantly shocked how real and expressive it looked, and felt all the emotions I would've felt if it was me falling from the sky or bending in circle in gymnastics. Great assignment and and great artwork there. Thank you so much, yours are ones of the best there.

Thank you for posting your photos, I would like to try to draw you. Very good similarity with your own SP.

And in the last portrait the expression of the woman face is wonderful, so fine, so rare. Those squinted eyes grab my attention right away.
If you want to hear some crits I cant add, that depicting some human imperfections, defects, irregularities make a portrait more interesting, breathing, shows a soul of depicted.
That's not my words, van (an artist from this forum said this, I totally agree). And as I often repeat, in my opinion, broken lines, dots, noise, textures add a huge emotion to the image. The portrait of that fat kid was wonderful because of these little details, above all other things. And I agree with SirGreenSock comment, that sometimes your figures don't look dynamic because your lines are slow and calculated. But in links from the above I chose the ones that are great in a catching motion and very smooth. I saved them, thank you very much,
Sveta

Nice portrait, it was good to see how you construct the face.
Only thing that stands out to me is her left shoulder seems wider than the right and seems to droop down pretty low. Havent seen the reference, but this area seems out of place to me.

that portrait is really good from what I can see. On my place on the learning curve, I still find it really hard to draw very well from picture reference. The drawing always come out flat looking. Yours has got some volume. It could pass as from being from life. Good going!!!

G´day!

You have a really good sketchbook here. I am enjoying the hand studies tremendeously! You have a good touch to your linework and all your sketches look really fluent. Natural I would say. They are pleasing to look at.

On the other hand, your vectors always seem to lack that looseness. They are not half as good as your more traditional looking pieces, in my opinion. If I am allowed to suggest something I think you should do your illustration jobs traditionally from now on!!! For example the calendar things (with the girl and flying pages etc) are really heartwarming and beautiful. And the woman on the last one also (she looks hot otherwise too ).

I will sit here and wait for more updates. Cheers!!!

That lil' portrait just ate out my soul,,,,, devastatingly nicely done,,,wowo!!!! You are so fluid and loosy goosy,,,,, I am so jealous of the ease of you drawings..... Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much it scares when you do things like that.....haha,, keep it up, you are awesome, man....

ps,,, did you paint it from a BW pic or was it a color one???? if it was color, are you gonna do a color version??? hmmmmm,,,

You're officially one of my fav. Conceptart.org artists. Your work is truly very admirable. Theres nothing I can criticize or anything I think needs more effort.

Keep it up.

the finished product looks great!! I like the color choice or lack there of. Is it in grey scale or is there a component of brown to it??

Haha, shyam, one of our best Sketchathon artists ~ you do definitely rock!

I still think the body on this latest figure looks a bit rough ~ but the face is really great ~ always nice to see your work.

Cheers,
