    READ THIS
Last week we had a completely free round...now we are trying the opposite, this means the topic is set by a detailed description and existing concept as it happens in the industry...this is the given concept for the creature we are looking for...design your creature regarding our concept:

    CC Evil Supply Creature:

We need a supply creature for the evil faction. This fellow needs to be pretty huge, slow-moving and have some way to carry trees, masonry and other supplies about. We're in a classic fantasy setting, but we don't want to see any trolls or giant orcs! Remember the evil faction's identifying colours are red and black - we need both to be obvious in your design.

Thanks to Matt Dixon who posted this description in the ideas thread!

ps: "CC" stands for "Concept Creature"...it will indicate the rounds with specified concepts!

oh, i forgot...of course if you think your creature needs some non-creature elements like belts or a saddle...well, it's ok for this special round

    C.O.W. - #022: CC Evil Supply Creature

    Okadon:
The larger these beasts get, the more weight they can carry. They can be seen strolling around the ravaged landscape pulling a cart made of bones and wood. The Rejnic load these carts with prisoners, trees for stoking the fires of their hellpits and other supplies for their evil ways.

Sounds cool, I am glad to see that this round was pushed more toward an industries standards of designing a creature based on restrictions and a description. Should be butt loads of fun.

I'm assuming that we only need provide a picture - not the description as well, since this is essentially implied by the CC status of the creature?

Yes? (that's correct, no description needed)

No? (that's incorrect, a description is needed)

    We hadn't thought of that?

The task of the creature in the game is specified, but you still have to design him yourself so a description of how this particular creature came to be the beast of burden of the evil faction would be interesting.

    My humble opinion -

The basics are provided in your brief, so you don't need to add anything to it. On the other hand, I don't see any reason why you couldn't back up your image with a small amount of text, whether it describes something about the way your creation behaves or simply serves to add some flavour to your work.

If you're going to see this as a 'real world' exercise, then it's most unlikely that you'd provide any text along with your concept. You would, however, have had the opportunity to talk things over with your lead artist ( project manager, art director, client, whoever... ) and perhaps also explain your thinking when you turned in your design, which would obviously give both parties a little more info than the simple description above and an image. You could add that extra detail ( if needed ) with some text.

EDIT : Eek! Loads of posts while I was replying - curse my creaky arthritic digits!

I like this format for the COW every once in a while. I like being dominated. Dixon, the safety word is "banana", go grab the nipple clamps...

I've been meaning to join the COW party for a while. When's the deadline for this one then? And how frequent are they?

    Pud'

    EDIT: Reads first post. derrrrrrrrrrr.

Btw, you guys know Fozzy's just amassing all your work to flesh out his 'creature evolution' game design document right? You won't see a penny. Just thought you should know.

Ok – should probably write some kind of description.

“The towering Naadsakk beasts can easily cross even the most hostile terrain, with their long and powerful legs. Massive amounts of war supplies can be suspended from the animals back allowing easy access for the ground crew.”

While thumbing, I suddenly wondered: can the creature have a rider/master, as in: a beast of burden with baskets on the side, ridden by a creature handler, or should it be a autonomous creature that gathers and carries the resources itself?

I would be mosyt obliged if the bear could shed some light on this matter.
