Yep that first one rocks. The rest are pretty good too. I'm really crap at critting anything other than really glaring errors and anatomy flaws. But it looks to me like you need to work more on legs, coz you do the upper body pretty well.

    cheers.

Great work for the sketchtrade! Your re do of mine has so much more character!

Some nice glowing stuff going on, but be careful it doesn't draw too much from the central point of the piece. kinda did for me on this one .

On the latest i think there is something odd going on with his shoulders. I like the breakup in the background, very nice.

    Smashing stuff, keep it up!

Hey fellow ssg-mate, here is the first critique of our SSG!

Cool stuff! Like the character designs. I thought the Arch Angel Gabriel would make a cool Dr. Octobus.

The archer is my favorite. Most dynamic.

One critique I have is that your coloring looks abit flat. Perhaps it is because the lack of diverse values? I wish I understood more about painting so I can make suggestions about your paintings but I do not. Sorry.

As for the drawings, I notice that you use mainly two body positions. frontal body or 1/3 turned to the side. Perhaps you could try more dynamic poses as well as more dynamic perspectives. It would make the drawings look more lively. But it really depends if you want to incorporate this suggestion into your style.

What sort of artist do you wish to become (or perhaps this is just a hobby)? Concept Artist, comic artist (if so, which kind), or?...

I like the top part and the lighting on his face is awesome but it is not consistent with the rest of the body. If you are suggesting that the light is coming from above and a little behind then perhaps maybe some darker shadows in the front to kind of give it a more dramatic effect.

Jworion: Thanks.. you are right about the lighting... I need to make it consistent... Nice to have you in the group!

Matt: Yah i am working on my anatomy... thought i should give the painting a bit of a rest, since i am not that good with it.. Need some good tuts on Painter 9 (I seen the links, but ain't found any that i like yet)

3EYES: I really don't know anymore what kind of artist i want to be... it's turned from a religion to a hobby. I would like to do my own graphic novel ( i bought a idiot's guide and ereythang...) so... whatever kind of artist that is... heh.

Styler: thanks... i am working on my colors... not my strong suit yet doe...

    Hiho!
I like your african king a lot!
I feel like your having trouble with colors... why don't you get some reference for your paintings and use Prometheus' tutorial on lightning (which i thnik is great *g*)?

    Hey there,

Love all these different drawings. You seem to have a good imagination, wish i had a good one . Your barbaraian archer looks great with the white. Maybe you could do some anatomy studies, maybe the torso for example. But overall, looks great and keep it up!

Hey Aeoxo, nice to see you posting! Good entry. I think you won that one. My critique is that there are quite a few details in that piece that don't quite work. I feel that your name (especially with that font) kinda gets in the way. It feels like adding digital to victorian. It also seems like there's a big I next to the Jester which is unnecessarily distracting. The two characters also don't really compliment each other that well. What makes it worse is that the guy is standing behind the girl but his feet is placed in front of her? looks akward. The dark red part behind the flower smoke also makes the flower look like something else and one has to look closely at it to see that it is just the background. The drapery of the lady's clothing also seems to be flawed especially at the bottom. Without drawing her other hand and only suggesting the elbow but not the forearm or her hand makes her look awkward as well. As if she only has one arm. Compositionally it would probably work better if you shift the two characters left a bit. Right now the composition looks "tipped" to one side.

But yea as everyone has been saying POST MORE (Even though I haven't been posting much lately)!
