FEEEEEEED YOUR MIND... Young paadawanaysomebody... Ude the forces the the Conceptual Temples and use the skills in the arts of artisticness to fullfill your crazy super human fantasies of growing up and being a super-duper artist with maaad skills to pay the bills and not be broke cuz you drive a benz and got rims and a thump'n system and a cool watch, and a shorty with a big ol' booty!!!

Welcome to the boards... Honestly you have a resource that is probably unmatched in all of cyberspace when it comes to developing your art. Not only will you find huge amounts of amazing talent but, your going to grow with other artists like yourself that will be the dictators of tomorrows dreams and landscapes... I wish you the best of luck... Just remember... 1- Draw 2- DRAW 3- study arts 4- repeat 1,2 and 3...
Mainloop- man i must be dyslexic.. cuz i thought you asked how many people are on lsd

Well - you dont really need that much of a range in the beginning unless you're doing a pencil rendering of the sistine chapel...9H would be like using a knife instead of a pencil

You probably know this but the Bs are the "soft" pencils and the the Hs are the "hard"

Use the Bs for quick sketching & shading and getting the darkest darks
Use the hs for detailing and very light rendering

Since you're just starting out though, I suggest you put aside the hs and get a B or 2B (or the "Magical" F which is I guess is between B and H ) and start sketching and using the higher Bs for nice juicy dark accents to pop your drawing

    hope that helps

I'm only posting this to protest ~Lover~ and I_LOVE_ART's new avatars. I feel so empty when i don't see the red heart and the lil anime girl when i come to CA now.

And where would you be without the Steiner?

and Rascar I don't think you should blame your shortcomings on not having a forum, as I love art says, practise etc, etc
