just wondering, is it possible to beat the computer?

or will the highest achievement be a draw?

I think it'd be possible to beat it. Bobby Fischer beat that super chess computer didn't he? I was doing well up till the end, then I made a slip and it was all over me. The orange and green lines are so pretty...

i was doing well... until i found out you can't castle in that one and had made some crazy moves that would only be made useful if i were able to castle.

um, I just castled in it. I still lost, but I did castle. Also, in high-level chess play, a draw is basically considered a victory for black, since black virtually never wins in a masters chess match. In a Kasparov vs Karpov match (best of 24 games), black NEVER WON.

Also, it's possible to beat the computer. They use point systems (taking pieces equals points, castling equals points, etc.) to determine what their move should be, and there are so many situations that thinking doesn't work for. Sometimes trading a queen for a rook and a bishop is great, sometimes it sucks. Algorithms don't always know the difference. Besides, an unbeatable program hasn't been made yet, otherwise we'd have heard about it.

EDIT: I almost beat it on my 4th try and it FROZE UP! The program's spending forever trying to think a way out of his inevitable doom. Anyway, I guess it's impossible to beat because he'll never take his turn so he can lose. Ugh...

EDIT AGAIN: Aerythes is right, it's not good on strategy. It let itself get in a bad situation and I demolished him. Me win!

Yeah, the swirley lines can get distracting. Just beaten it. It's decent in tactics but kind of weak in strategy. I think most players with a score of 1500 or above should be able to win this one.
