Well it's not like I'll kill you if you can't do this, so if you ARE interested, then lets start brainstorming the topic idea!

well, i have roamed this site long enough without particapating. maybe its about time, if i have time that is.
maybe the topic should be something age related, since you wanted young guys. i dont exactly know what "a young" topic would be, but hey thats up to you.

Allright guys lets get this going....I'll toss an idea out there...

You are working for a big game studio and your art director presents you with the challenge of doing some character development for the next big title being released. Your job is to design a minimum of 4 characters, maximum of 8. Take carefull thought in your costume design in terms of functionality, or if its a period piece..accuracy. Also you need to provide a back story for these characters and describe how they relate to one another.

EX: If the game were "Younguns" a western based game you could have..

The Protagonist: The corrupt, evil, saloon owner.

The Hero: The young marshall who came to restore order.

The Damsel: The Saloon owners beautiful goodhearted daughter.

    etc... etc...etc.

Now The topic of the game can be left open to discussion, or we could have everyone come up with their own game and judge on skill, and who created the best world...so to speak.

Feel free to shoot this down or we can tweak it a bit, just a thought, but I can't wait to get this going!

Like the idea Timothy, think I'd probably end up only doing like 4 characters or so, as school and work love taking all my time away from me. My vote goes for a sci-fi (what ever you take that to mean) setting, but I'm down for anything.

Oh yeah, ya'll bitches are mine, starting with you timmy

i like the character design idea, but maybe something astray from the beaten path, like an area design, or a scene that tells a story, hell i dont know.
how about a character design of a few young people with weapons, like a futuristic gang made up of adolescents... i dunno.

Timothy-a protagonist is the main character in the story. Usually that the hero. I think you mean antagonist. How about we each design a protagonist, antagonist and supporting character. This way it's more open.

so three characters plus back story. Is the setting open "western" or more traditional "western"? I vote open to give a little more variety and such. And what's the deadline?

I'll be 19 in nov. so I'm down.

I really like the idea of a futuristic adolescent gang.
We should make it a set number of characters though, like 4 or 5. Easier to judge if everyone has the same number.

I also like the idea of an adolescent gang, but I'm also kinda feeling the western thing too. How about you have to design a group of characters (between 3 and like 6?) set in a western setting. "Western" being open to inturpretation. For example, it could be quazi-futuristic, but still must contain some of the elements that are typically associated with westerns: six shooters/gun slinging, the outfits, horses, etc. Any thoughts? Yay, nay?

I'm with that. To clarify, are we talking about a western scene with 3-6 characters, or 3-6 character designs for a western scene? The difference being one illustration or several concept pieces. Dig? I'm for one illustration.

depending on the time limit, i think an illustration should be optional, but if enough tme allowed, why not

ok, so let me lay this out then. 3 or 4 characters as concept designs with the guidelines being "western", open to interpretation (historic, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.) plus one illustrated scene featuring said characters. Deadline is 6 weeks from the starting day. How about it? Lets get serious here.
