Hi Guys -
I thought I would throw up some stuff I've been working on. The first two are examples of me trying to learn painter
Any comments welcome...
Hey, nice stuff. I hope to see you keep working on these.
I don't have much to crit at this point--maybe look at the girl's nose in the first pic. It seems a little wide at the top.
I simply have nothing to crit because I simply can't see nothing wrong.
Hey Emily - thanks for the heads up on the nose - I'll have to dig some reference on that, the bridge does look a bit weird/flat/wide. A friend of mine suggested that the close nostril on the dragon in the bottom pic is a bit pulled back - you agree?
Jeri - I appreciate it dude - but seriously, I'm not that good
Thanks for looking guys
Hmmm, yes. The close nostril looks like it lies flat against the nose, but I can see by the far nostril that it's not supposed to be that way. We should see more of the top of the nostril ridge.Originally Posted by SpartanA friend of mine suggested that the close nostril on the dragon in the bottom pic is a bit pulled back - you agree?
Damn, peeps, where is all the gush?! These are rich and beautiful sketches.
In the first one, the Shoulder strap isn't helping the three dimensionality of the chest (it's not curved enough). His head, too, is mis-centered (and some funky interaction with the trapezius).
I can't wait to see the progress of the second one and the perspective on the third really helps the desperte feel. I can't help but wish for a little treasure ditritus on the floor, closer to her (like she could grab less for much less danger, but she reeeeally wants that gem!). The dragon is a little too good a house keeper.
Hey Dogfood -
Thanks for th eprops dude - I hear you on his head - I've chopped it off and tried positioning it moreto the right of the image, and it looks way better. Tonight I'll post a newer version. The shoulder strap will have to be a 'lesson learned' though - I don't feel too inclined to get in there and do that much rework.
Very nice coloring. Question, How much was the Painter? Is it better then photoshop, coloring wise?
I just got done looking at your site. You are freaking HOT! Your work is freaking awesome dude. And you say you're not that great lol, but that's the case with all artists i guess. I'm impressed, but I'd expect this kind of work from a professional. I'll hopefully be this good soon.
Hey Juice - Painter is the tool of choice for most pros - except Matt Dixon, who rocks PS all the way. I am pretty superfly in PS, but I'm tryingto broaden my scope a bit. I think painter 'feels' nicer to use the stylus in, but I will always have a soft spot for the immediacy of Photoshop - sometimes painter just has too many media, too many options. I recommend using PS first, to get a handle on digital painting, then moving into Painter. Painter is about a grand I think.
Yo Drak - lol - thanks for that dude - made my night! I still feel like I have a long way to go - but I guess everybody does ... maybe that's the whole point?
The dragons head does look a bit odd, probably due to the nose, I love the rich, warm and saturated colours of the first one.
Thanx for the tips. And damn that shit is expensive lol the price already decided for me to use it or not lol. Well once again awesome work and excited to see more
